Realizing that your teenage daughter is an alcoholic is difficult, but it’s important that you focus on solutions rather than laying blame. Some people are genetically predisposed toward alcoholism, and some people can be influenced by friends who abuse alcohol. Though you may feel very alone if you find out that your teen daughter is an alcoholic, you should know that this is a problem that is becoming more common. There are many resources available to you on what can be treated, both for medical help and for emotional support.

Understanding

If you find that your child is abusing alcohol, you may feel angry. While this is an understandable emotion, reacting with anger at your child will probably be unhelpful in your quest to get her quality help and inspire her to work to overcome her problem. Your child may have an underlying issue that is contributing to her alcohol abuse; however, she may not know why she feels compelled to drink. Don’t pressure your child to give more information and she feels comfortable giving. Though it is important to monitor situations in which she could be immediate risk, allow her emotional privacy. Part of her treatment for alcoholism will include confiding in a therapist. Some teenagers find it easier to speak to a therapist than to a parent.

Intervention

The steps you take to begin to deal with your daughter’s alcohol problem may depend on how you found out about it. If your daughter came to you asking for help, then you can immediately begin searching for alcoholism treatment resources. However, if your daughter is unwilling to admit her problem or does not want to communicate with you, you may need to stage an intervention. You should not attempt an intervention by yourself. Rather, you need expert guidance to ensure that the intervention has the best chance of being effective and that it is considerate of your daughter’s mental and emotional needs. The first step in staging an intervention for your teen is to consult with a professional organization that specializes in teen alcoholism. Some organizations will help you find a counselor to guide your family through the process.

Treatment Options

The treatment options available to you may depend on the severity of your daughter’s problem. A good first step may be a call to your pediatrician. If your daughter does not want to see the pediatrician to talk about her problem, you should still call to ask for recommendations for rehab treatment resources.
If your daughter only has a mild drinking problem, a therapist may be able to help her deal with it. An individual therapist can be a good solution because it will allow your daughter to stay in school and participate in the majority of her normal activities. She won’t have to explain her absence from school to her friends, and you can decide on a case-by-case basis who knows about the problem.
For some teens, an individual therapist is not enough. Teens who are drinking often or a great deal may need to go to a detox program to rid their system of alcohol before they can begin to recover. A short-term or long-term treatment program may be the best option to help your teen recover from alcoholism and stay sober. Some programs allow the teen to detox at the center and then continue outpatient treatment while living at home. Other programs are residential and last for weeks to months. There are some things to consider when choosing the right rehab center. It is important that the treatment center caters only to teens. Adults should not be in the same facility as teens. Some treatment centers offer activities like cooking lessons and horseback riding. Choosing a program that has activities that your daughter enjoys may make her more willing to participate.

Once your daughter completes a treatment program, visits with the therapist may be recommended to help her stay sober. You may also be coached on warning signs to look for that might indicate if your daughter has relapsed. You might also be given tips on how to create an environment that lessens the likelihood that your daughter will drink.

Though it’s very upsetting to find that your teen has a drinking problem, you can take comfort in knowing that you’re not alone. Teen drinking is a common phenomenon, which is why there are so many programs and treatment centers designed for teens. Take advantage of the many resources available on teen drinking, and do your research to ensure that you are choosing the best option, whether you pick a therapist, outpatient treatment program, or residential treatment program.

Violence is a poor solution to problems, and this is especially true for violent alcoholics. Unfortunately, a large number of alcoholics do become violent, which makes approaching them about rehab treatment tricky. Whether you’re the spouse of an alcoholic or a child, you need to try to get your loved one to a treatment center to protect your family.

The first step in dealing with a violent alcoholic is to have an escape plan. Ensure you have somewhere else to go if your loved one turns violent. This will require a certain amount of strength on your part, but you must consider what the alternative could be if you don’t protect yourself.

You should also remove weapons and ammunition from the house to ensure it is a weapon-free zone. Unload any guns and make sure knives and other implements are not available. This may take a little while, so do it when your loved one is not in the house.

The best way to help a violent alcoholic is to ensure that you’re not enabling alcoholic behavior. If your loved one uses your money to get drunk, cut off these funds as much as possible. You can set up a separate savings account that your loved one doesn’t know about to reduce the amount of money available. You can also cancel cards if your loved one is racking up debt with drinking habits. Above all, to get rid of the dangers and effects of alcohol use, it is best to choose the right rehab center.

In addition, you might not keep alcohol in the house or buy alcohol for a loved one. If he or she becomes violent as a result of this, you need to leave quickly. Find a friend, family member, or shelter to take you in, and stay away from your home until your loved one calms down.

By reducing the opportunities for the person to get drunk, you increase the likelihood of being able to talk to him or her about drinking and violence issues. Coming up with a detailed plan will increase your chances of successfully addressing the issues. Have someone else in the house if possible—preferably someone who can help you escape if necessary. Explain to your loved one how his or her drinking affects your life and everyone around you, and prepare examples or stories if possible.

In some cases, a full-on intervention might be the best way to go. With dozens of people present, you can talk about your feelings while reinforced by those around you. A professional interventionist can structure the intervention to help increase the chances of its success.

If you are talking to your partner alone, you need to plan options in case your partner does agree to get help. Research available clinics and options available for alcoholics in your area. You should also try to understand the different types of drug alcohol or rehab programs and the various stages of each program.

If you plan an appointment for your loved one, this may further cement the chances that he or she will follow through with the plan for treatment. Even if it’s just a preliminary appointment to discuss various options, the important thing is that you convince your partner that this small step will be the first step on the road to recovery.

With that said, you need to be prepared to apply sanctions if your loved one doesn’t seek help. If you’re reading this, you might be asking how you can persuade your partner to change if you don’t have anything to withdraw.

However, you can withdraw your company or, in certain cases, your children’s or grandchildren’s company if your partner does not comply. You must be prepared to carry through, however.

“Tough love” is a common phrase, and though it is a bit cliché, that is what must happen if your loved one is to get help. Most alcoholics will deny that they have issues with alcohol until they’re diagnosed with alcohol-induced liver failure or something similar. Alternatively, they might be caught driving under the influence of alcohol. Those caught multiple times face the risk of jail time.

Ultimately, you cannot be with someone who abuses you or those around you. If your loved one is mired in alcoholism, you need to be strong and firm. A sober partner or family member is the ultimate goal, and it is achievable with help.

Approaching the situation needs to be handled appropriately, though, and your safety and the safety of your dependents should always be the first thing you consider. If you or your loved one has an issue with alcohol, call our hotline at 1-888-716-9806 to learn more about your options for best rehabs and what can be treated that can make your life better and addiction free.

If you are concerned that someone close to you might have a problem with alcohol, your instinct reaction is probably that you wish you could get him or her to stop drinking. However, doing so is not easy, and it’s a path on which you have to be careful how you tread. It’s certainly something you’ll want to think about before approaching. After all, you really don’t want to open an unnecessary can of worms.

Getting someone to get sober and stop drinking alcohol is hard because alcoholics become emotionally attached to the substance. Those who abuse alcohol drink because they are dependent on the substance. Given this alone, the most important thing you can do to help someone who is drinking too much is to have open communication.

Perhaps the best first step to take is to schedule time to meet with the friend or family member you are concerned about. It’s very important that this is a private meeting and that it takes place somewhere you are both comfortable. It’s very important that the person is sober when this conversation takes place. Tell him or her you have something serious you’d like to discuss and take it from there.

Once you two are alone, you can ask the pertinent questions. You can approach the conversation in different ways, but what is most important is that you get to the problems that are at the root of your friend or family member’s alcohol abuse. Alcohol itself is not usually the real problem. People most often drink alcohol because there are other things going on in their life that they want to forget about, that they want to escape. Keeping this in mind, addressing the issue is often the hardest part of trying to get someone to stop drinking. It’s likely he or she won’t want to talk about the issue, and it’s also likely this person is in denial that he or she even has an alcohol problem.

However, when you do get through, it’s important that you ask your loved one about his or her drinking routine. This is pertinent information that will give you inside into why exactly he or she drinks—what causes him or her to pick up a bottle and how long those sorts of incidents last (this is likely to be based on the extremity of the incident). In addition, it’s just as important that you are observant of your loved one’s actions surrounding alcohol when you go out together. If you think you or your loved one has an issue with alcohol, call our helpline today at 1-888-716-9806 and learn more about choosing the right rehab options for this particular addiction.

Once you have a better understanding of what your friend or family member is going through, you will have a better idea of why he or she reacts to alcohol the way he or she does, and you’ll also feel more confident about confiding in another mutual friend or relative about the situation at hand.

Getting someone to stop drinking alcohol takes more than a singular effort. Alcohol can seriously affect relationships between friends and family members, so it’s important to speak to others who are also close to your loved one to determine how they see the situation. Gaining alternative perspectives on what might be a serious issue is a good indicator of whether there is a problem. If these people show their support and bring up the topic of a potential alcohol problem with your loved one, there is more of a chance that he or she will realize that it’s time to seek help or addiction treatment.

Referring your loved one to an alcohol or drug rehab program is a hard but necessary step to take if you and your mutual friends have come together and determined there is indeed a problem. Talking to your friend or family member about his or her alcohol use can be very difficult, as established, so it’s important not to aggravate the problem or insist that he or she stop drinking altogether. The last thing you want to do is to be a nag.

Perhaps the best thing you can do in a difficult case is refer your friend or family member to a professional who can provide coaching or addiction therapy on alcohol abuse. A community health center is a great place to start, as it will provide you with many local resources you can use to get started. Remember, even in the most difficult of situations, the most important thing of all is that your loved one knows you are there for him or her and that you are only trying to help.

Drugs and alcohol have major effects on the body, from disruption of normal bodily functions to accelerated aging. Over time, you can develop tolerance to drugs or alcohol, and you might find yourself taking more and more of the substance in order to have the same effects. The more drugs or alcohol you take, the more difficult it will be when you try to quit.

When all is said and done, many addicts will try to quit at some point, but many fail when they lack a properly structured detox program. Quitting drug or alcohol abuse is difficult, because improperly detoxing can cause withdrawal symptoms that are difficult to overcome without medical help. These withdrawal symptoms can include physical discomfort, hallucinations, and seizures that make it hard to stay off the addictive substance. Heart attacks, severe overheating, and hypoglycemia can also be a problem.

If you’re physically dependent on medication, drugs, or alcohol, it means your body needs the substance to function properly. The sudden removal of the substance literally causes your body to stop working correctly and can put you in a world of hurt. The symptoms of alcohol withdrawal can be severe; sudden withdrawal can cause brain damage, seizures, heart palpitations, and other effects that can result in hospitalization or death.
Drugs can cause similar side effects during withdrawal, and you might face hallucinations, abnormal body temperatures, body sweats, mood changes, and more.

If you’re planning on quitting drugs or alcohol, you should taper your usage, gradually decreasing it to eliminate the body’s need for the substance over time. The likelihood is that you’ll face less serious withdrawal symptoms like hallucinations, vomiting, shakes, and nausea, but these are not usually life threatening unless you become dehydrated or have an accident due to working or driving when you’re supposed to be monitoring your symptoms. You may have emotional symptoms as well, like mood swings, confusion, or depression, and these can make it hard to stick to the detox program or rehab treatment.

Quitting cold turkey is never a good idea when it comes to an addiction, no matter what you’ve chosen as your poison. In fact, quitting a drug is best done with the supervision of a doctor, because you can determine a detox process that will work for you. A doctor can even use medications to help reduce withdrawal; with some serious drug problems, these medications are literally lifesavers. A doctor can also monitor your symptoms and increase your dosage of certain medications when needed.

Withdrawal from benzodiazepines can kill; these are drugs like Xanax or Valium. After long-term use, you’ll need medical supervision to make sure you don’t have life-threatening withdrawal symptoms. It can take up to six months to properly stop this type of medication when it has been abused.

Opiates are not commonly deadly when quit cold turkey, but there are exceptions to every rule. Methadone, a replacement for heroin, is one of those exceptions. If it is taken in high doses for a long time, withdrawal can cause seizures, heart problems, and breathing difficulties. What makes it more ironic is that this drug is used to reduce withdrawal symptoms from drugs like heroin.

Improperly completing a rapid-detox program can also cause death. These popular methods quickly rid the body of the drug, but negative side effects are common, since these methods don’t address the patient’s physical dependence on the drug.

The body reacts severely because the chemical processes in the brain are being disrupted; alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, and others interfere with the GABA receptors in the brain. The GABA system is the body’s main down regulator, and withdrawal causes it to go crazy.

There are ways to make withdrawal easier, though. With serious drug or alcohol problems, a medical detox may be advised to make sure you don’t suffer through symptoms that could end up killing or seriously injuring you. Once you’re past the worst of it, you could try replacing your electrolytes, eating complex carbohydrates to make sure you don’t develop hypoglycemia as a side effect of withdrawal, and taking vitamin B, which helps heal cells, like the nerves that are damaged by drug or alcohol abuse.

Celebrities enjoy rehab that is as private as possible, but it definitely comes at a high cost. There are a number of ways that providers make sure that rehabilitation centers stay private, especially because undue stress can cause patients to have trouble recovering. Relapsing is a problem that any rehabilitation center will face with patients, so relieving stress and eliminating media involvement is important. Normal rehabilitation facilities are also private, but they are less likely to be as accommodating as luxury treatment centers.

There are a few ways that these centers make themselves safer for celebrities and more accommodating to their needs. First, there are private rooms, private jet landing areas, private phone lines, and restrictions on who can come in or out, depending on the facility. The rehab center may be on completely private land. These rehab treatment facilities often have security measures in place. As with any rehab center, the medical staff is unable to discuss the patients or their histories with unauthorized people.

Celebrities pay a lot to ensure their privacy. The increased costs associated with complete anonymity can be as much as $120,000 per month, whereas a low-end rehab option may cost as little as $7,500. The cost is affected by the amenities, the length of the treatment program, the type of program offered, and the location. Some luxury rehab centers offer extras like professional catering and animal therapy, which cost more.

Celebrity rehab centers are, first and foremost, inpatient treatment centers where patients live. When a celebrity arrives, he or she may come via a dark-windowed vehicle, private jet (in some luxury locations, a jet is standard), or via boat if the center is on a coast or lake. The centers are often very secure and not on most maps, so people like the paparazzi won’t be able to simply drive up and take photos of the facility.

Many high-end rehabilitation centers offer personal security and security on the grounds. This helps keep anyone from the outside out. This prevents photos from being taken, but it also helps reduce the likelihood of drugs or alcohol making their way into the facility. If stars need to work during their stay, security will also make sure the phone lines and Internet connection are unable to be hacked. This helps protect the stars from media harassment.

A major benefit of a luxury rehab facility is that celebrities and those who are wealthy will be kept with their peers most of the time. This means that everyone there will know how important the other patients’ privacy is. Patients will know each other in some cases, which can be a benefit. When all patients have respect for other patients’ privacy, it helps keep the location of the facility off the radar.

Group therapy may be one-on-one instead, and doctors may be restricted to working with one patient. HIPAA laws require that doctors and nurses do not disclose medical information to anyone except the patient and those whom the patient has authorized, but these facilities take it to a new level. During addiction therapy, all information is kept incredibly private. This keeps the media away from sensitive information that could eventually cause problems for the recovering patient.

Private rooms are another bonus of these luxury rehab centers. Instead of spending time with a roommate, patients at these facilities occupy rooms that are completely private, allowing them to relax and heal. Celebrities and businesspeople need to continue working in many cases, so the privacy of their own rooms helps them continue private and secure work without needing any additional amenities.

Luxury rehab centers are often designed to be similar to resorts. There is medical help and therapy, but there are also benefits like juice bars, on-call security, animal therapy sessions, pools, and more. The purpose of these facilities is to give celebrities the luxuries they expect as well as the help they need.

Action on Addiction also enjoys celebrity support from Annabel Croft and Tania Bryer. Additionally, Middleton is the patron of a children’s hospice, a charity that helps children use art to bolster their self-image, and the National Portrait Gallery.

Mike Conley, Jr.: Conley, who plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, is a celebrity messenger for the charity Natural High, which works to educate young people about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. Conley and other celebrity messengers for the organization appear in films that are distributed to schools across the country.

Grant’s husband, Vince Gill, also supports the charity.

Salma Hayek: Actress Salma Hayek founded the Salma Hayek Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth resist drugs, among other focuses.

David Arquette: Actor David Arquette visited the Chabad Residential Treatment Center in Los Angeles and talked with some of the residents of the center about his own difficulties with drug addiction and alcoholism and his journey to sobriety.
Howie Mandel: In 2009, actor Howie Mandel also visited the Chabad Residential Treatment Center in Los Angeles. His visit was filmed to make a mini documentary that was aired as part of a fundraising telethon for the center.

Another popular way for celebs to help draw attention to important issues is to make public service announcements. Clint Eastwood, Bette Midler, and Pee-wee Herman all recorded public-service announcements warning against crack cocaine.

Some celebrities draw attention to causes by attending fundraising events. The presence of celebrities often causes the fundraising event to be publicized in the media, drawing attention and funding to the charity. One example is The Winehouse Foundation’s November 2012 Ball, which was held in London to fundraise for the charity. Notable attendees included Mark Ronson, Ronnie Wood, and Barbara Windsor.

Child stars have it rough at times. While they are famous, they have everything, but as they become less popular, they fade away. Children who grow up under the critical (and hypocritical) eye of the media are three times more likely to abuse alcohol than the average young American. Here’s a quick rundown of a number of child stars who suffered from addictions.

1. Macaulay Culkin

Macaulay Culkin, star of the Home Alone series, reported became addicted to oxycodone and heroin as well as benzodiazepines. He eventually dried out, but it left him with three suspended prison sentences and a $540 fine.

2. Jodie Sweetin

Jodie Sweetin was one of the Full House stars, along with the Olsen twins, but she started using meth because she was bored. She attributes her alcoholism and drug use to the end of the long-running show, which left her with little to do. She is now clean and talks about addiction and recovery.

3. Todd Bridges

Todd Bridges has had many roles, but he was a child actor in the Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, and, most famously, Diff’rent Strokes. Bridges struggled with crack cocaine addiction, and he was even arrested for the murder of a crack dealer, although a witness later testified at trial that Bridges was nowhere near the scene. Bridges is now clean.

4. Dana Plato

Dana Plato was a fellow child actor on Diff’rent Strokes, and she suffered similar issues. The roles that she obtained after the sitcom became fewer and fewer, and she spiraled into painkiller addiction. She died of an overdose at the age of thirty-four.

5. Corey Feldman

Corey Feldman has been in the public eye since the age of three. He starred in the Goonies and Stand By Me, gaining him widespread public recognition. He was apparently abused as a kid and worked to avoid the abuse. However, at the age of twenty, he was arrested for heroin addiction. He got finally got completely clean ten years later.

6. Haley Joel Osment

Haley Joel Osment is best known for his role in Sixth Sense, and he also played the young Forrest Gump. Unfortunately he ended up being arrested for DUI and possession of marijuana after flipping his car near LA. He ended up with a fractured rib and a resolve to get clean.

7. Amanda Bynes

Despite denouncing alcohol in 2007, Amanda Bynes has been repeatedly in trouble with the law with DUI-related incidents. The star of Hairspray, Love Wrecked, and Easy A now has a suspended license and has reached a settlement with those she injured. It remains to be seen whether she’ll carry on with this wild-child path.

8. John Connor

The curse of John Connor strikes, with Edward Furlong being arrested repeatedly for substance abuse. Despite an initially promising career, his drug abuse has dominated his life, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll get clean.

9. Britney Spears

This list would not be complete without Britney Spears. She actually started her acting career with the Mickey Mouse Club at the age of 10, but she has hit the headlines several times thanks to her erratic behavior and prescription drug addiction problems. That said, she seems to be getting it back together now, so we’ll look forward to her return to the pop scene.

10. Jaimee Foxworth

Jaimee Foxworth went from doing Family Matters to porn, so it’s perhaps unsurprising she chose to rebel in other ways. She ended up taking prescription painkillers and mixing them with alcohol after the show ended. She was a fan of marijuana, although she now states that she is clean.

11. Tatum O’Neal

Tatum O’Neal is the youngest actor ever to win an Oscar, and that was for her role in Paper Moon. While she had a good career, she was arrested in 2008 for buying crack cocaine. She completed a drug addiction program as a result of the subsequent trial.

12. Melanie Griffith

A friend of Tatum O’Neal, Melanie Griffith started acting at the age of nine months, and by the age of seventeen, she had starred in a number of films that involved nudity. She had issues with cocaine, hash, opium, and alcohol throughout her career up until she checked into an addiction center in 1988. She would return to a clinic in 2000 after getting a painkiller addiction.

13. Lindsay Lohan

Who could forget Lindsay Lohan, the current favorite wild child of the press. Hardly a week goes by without someone mentioning her and her partying ways, although this appears to be tapering off at last. She’s finally seeing a little sense and starting to clean up her act, but she still has a way to go.

14. Drew Barrymore

A lot of people forget that Drew Barrymore starred in E.T., and her fame came at a price. Smoking marijuana at twelve, cocaine at thirteen, and in drug rehab shortly after, Barrymore was a classic example of how child stars need protecting. She cleaned up her act and soon became a successful actress and producer.

1. Anna Nicole Smith

The late Anna Nicole Smith passed away in 2007 when she overdosed on prescription drugs. Although she denied her addiction and claimed she had a high tolerance for the medication because she was in pain, it was later revealed that she was involved in a prescription drug scandal allegedly involving her attorney and former domestic partner, Howard K. Stern, who faces two related convictions of conspiracy. The six months leading up to her death were tumultuous, especially with the death of her son, Daniel, and the custody battle over her newborn daughter, Dannielynn, making headlines worldwide.

2. Jael Strauss

It came as a shock to many of her fans when Jael Strauss, a former America’s Next Top Model contestant, appeared on Dr. Phil to discuss her meth addiction. Looking dramatically different, with rotten teeth, marked-up skin, and a swollen face, she revealed she had been addicted for six years. Good news for Strauss is that, with the help of Dr. Phil, her family was able to get her to go to rehab.

3. Kate Moss

While model Kate Moss might deny using heroin, there’s no doubt she has done other drugs over the course of her career. It’s likely she went to rehab back in 1998 for a bit more than simply “partying too much.” After all, pictures and a video of her snorting what appears to be cocaine later emerged. Although, now at 39, her career is back on track, Kate looks like she’s going on 49. All her years of partying and doing whatever else certainly took their toll.

4. Jaime King

You probably would have never guessed, but the beautiful model and actress Jaime King was addicted to heroin from age 14 to 19, during her first modeling job. It wasn’t until the death of her then boyfriend, famous fashion photographer Davide Sorrenti, that King consciously chose to turn her life around and away from drugs.

5. Alice Dellal

Young, beautiful, and blonde, model Alice Dellal was only 20 when she was caught on camera with a line of white powder, an Oyster card, and a hollow tube. She has also been caught in other provocative pictures, including one of her wrapping cocaine and another of her fallen on the ground after a night of partying. Dellal comes from a long line of high-profile models, and her father also has an interesting history—he was once an escort of Mick Jagger’s ex and was accused of involvement in a drug ring that smuggled ₤40,000 of cocaine into Britain. Unfortunately many in the show biz who are born into the industry are prone to influences out of their control.

6. Gia Carangi

The lovely once-leading supermodel Gia Carangi died of HIV in 1996 amid her ongoing battle with drug addiction. Unfortunately, “Gia’s beauty and energy were only equalled by the pain and solitude that led her on the path to personal destruction through drug abuse and to the abyss of no return.” Carangi was later portrayed by Angelina Jolie in the haunting HBO television movie GIA.

7. Simone Farrow

Simone Farrow, an Australian swimsuit model for Ed Hardy, was arrested for running an international drug ring. She was wanted for fleeing a $150,000 bail and had been on the run for a month prior to her arrest. While the model, who has at least 19 aliases, claimed she had fled police officers because she thought someone was trying to murder her, she had actually been trafficking “ice” in bags of bath salts.

8. Naomi Campell

In addition to the cocaine addiction that saw her face numerous arrests, anger management sessions, and rehab stints, Naomi Campell also struggled with an addiction to alcohol. Campell herself has said, “I never thought I was an alcoholic, but it goes hand in hand with the drugs. Emotionally, I was just gone.”

9. Erin Spanevello

The beautiful billboard model Erin Spanevello, who was backed by four major modeling agencies, faced her fate with excessive drug use. She was only 21 when she suffered cardiac arrest—the result of taking a deadly amount of synthetic drugs.

10. Liliana Andrea Lozano

The lovely Columbian model Liliana Andrea Lozano had much success ahead of her, but like many models do, she got wrapped up in all the wrong matters. The beauty queen had been involved with drug lord Leonidas Vargas and was gunned down with his brother just a few days following his death. It is clear this tragedy was the result of a drug-related murder.
