ABOUT 12 & 12, INC.

Located in Tulsa, Okla., 12 & 12, Inc. is an accredited Comprehensive Community Addiction Recovery Center (CCARC) funded by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. The center serves over 1,600 adults each year through its full continuum of treatment programs, which include inpatient and ambulatory detoxification, residential treatment (additional programs exist for patients with co-occurring conditions), transitional living services, outpatient treatment, continuing care, and sober living programs.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

To determine an appropriate continuum of care, clients may first undergo an initial assessment to identify the severity of addiction and any co-occurring mental health concerns. Individuals who require residential treatment participate in roughly 37 hours per week of structured programming. While length of stay is dependent upon each client’s needs, those receiving intensive inpatient treatment for chemical dependency or a dual diagnosis typically stay on-site for 45 to 60 days.

Each residential client participates in an individualized treatment plan that consists of one-on-one and group therapy in conjunction with educational groups and workshops. These specialized groups cover a range of topics, including grief recovery, relapse prevention, anger management, coping skills, gender-specific topics, and relationship-building. Clients with co-occurring disorders also receive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management.

The treatment provider emphasizes a continuum of care as the most effective approach to sustained recovery. As such, residential clients may be encouraged to transition into a less-intensive level of care. Typically lasting between four to 12 weeks, the facility’s intensive outpatient program consists of nine to 16 hours of weekly programming, while the traditional outpatient program requires less hours. 12 & 12 also operates a number of sober living facilities. Clients who transition into a sober living facility must attend an outpatient-based service, and the typical length of residency is between two and three months.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The facility employs a multidisciplinary staff of physicians board-certified in addiction medicine, psychiatrists, masters-level substance abuse and mental health counselors, registered nurses, and support staff. Although three individuals did not rate this metric, nine of the 12 individuals polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave an average rating of 4.11 out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Residential clients shared double-occupancy, gender-specific bedrooms with a private bath. Meals are served in a communal dining room, and clients have access to a common lounge area, fitness room, laundry room, and both indoor and outdoor recreational areas. Available activities include ping-pong, volleyball, and basketball. Eight individuals polled on the matter offered an average rating of four stars for the facility’s cleanliness and upkeep. Connie, an alum, wrote: “The food was awesome and the rooms were all very nice.”

The seven alumni polled by Rehabs.com offerd mixed opinions of the facility. While a majority of clients praised the facility, specifically the staff, others disapproved. I picked up so many tools while in residential, left for a short time so I could learn more in transitional living because I wanted to be there. Not because I had to be there or forced to be there by the courts. I was looking for a new way of life. From the moment I walked into my councilors office I felt like he had all ready judged me and yet never laid eyes on me before. Even though I was grateful for the things I learned in residential I was on the other hand very dissatisfied that I was not giving the opportunity to prove why I was really there.because of one mistake.

Counselors were a strenght but is was urgently, which was a weakness. It was great

This facility is a joke. It is just a get-out-of-jail-free card for those who have the choice of going to jail or going to rehab. This is not a place for those who are willing to go on their own and quit. It is not a place for someone who is truly wanting help. My wife picked me up that same night when I realized this was not going to work for me. On top of that, the staff was very nice and helpful but one woman who worked there was hanging out inappropriately with guys in detox. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone who wants help with their addiction.

This facility is not for the general public. It's full of court ordered addicts and is, in my opinion, one step above city jail. They say it's non-smoking and no cell phones, but smoking is going on and my son used his 'cellys' phone to call us to come get him. When we asked the administration about these issues, they told us people had bigger problems and they didn't monitor it. This facility is NOT as pictured on their web site and we fell is very misrepresented to us. If they would've told us smoking goes on and that they were affiliated with the criminal system, we'd never have agreed for son to go. No value here. Move on.

They did a comprehensive evaluation and addressed the issues I was dealing with. As with most facilities that are not completely locked down the opportunity to use was available if I had wished to do so. As with any rehab program you will only get out of it what you are willing to put in.

Very compassionate workers and structured programs but takes a bit of paperwork to get in. I had great interaction over the phone and in person with a caseworker who stuck by me throughout the process.

Counselors do their job. They are not always great at holding patients accountable for their time. Anyone in a rehab needs to have a solid core of back up team members. They must have accountability. I feel like that was taught at this location.

Just a great place with great caring people. The staff will go out of their way to aid in the recovery process. And some of them are recovering also so, they know what it's like to be in your shoes. Very compasionate
