Located four miles west of central Boise, Ashwood Recovery at Northpoint offers outpatient treatment for adults, adolescents, and families struggling with substance abuse and mental and behavioral health disorders, including eating disorders.

Detox is available on an outpatient basis only. The center does not offer any opiate-replacement medication-assisted therapies, such as Suboxone or methadone.

Clients can usually be seen within two weeks of contacting the facility, sometimes less. Treatment begins with an initial assessment that takes 90 minutes to complete, and the length of treatment varies according to the individual client’s needs.

The primary course of treatment offered at Ashwood Recovery is an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that meets for three hours, three evenings a week, for approximately 12 weeks, depending on the client’s needs.

Ashwood Recovery uses the 12-Steps alongside evidence-based modalities, aiming to provide a program that helps clients identify the issues at the root of their addictions and other disorders. Specifically, the center can provide eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and trauma resolution services. Family nights are offered twice a month, consisting of sharing sessions as well as education and skills-building.

The center’s continuing care program consists of ongoing group therapy.

The team includes a psychiatrist, social workers, and licensed counselors and therapists. The single alum polled by to date gave the center five out of five stars for its staff’s level of training and experience.

The single alum polled by to date would recommend this facility. The anonymous reviewer gave the center five stars for its overall effectiveness, its family program, and its counseling options, four stars for its treatment for co-occurring disorders, and three stars for its holistic options. “Its close by, which was nice. It was costly… You have to wanna quit if its gonna happen. rehabs are a crutch,” they wrote.

At the time of this writing, secondary sites yielded almost unanimously positive coverage, with average ratings of 4.6 out of five stars based on 32 reviews on Facebook (where the center can manage its own page) and 4.8 out of five stars based on 20 reviews on Google, and a single five-star rating on Yelp.[1] [2] [3] Both negative reviews among this feedback cited rudeness and a sense that the facility was more interested in money than in caring for its clients. In response to one of these reviews, the facility wrote on Google: “So sad to see you feel this way. Although counseling/treatment isn't free, we certainly don't ever want to come across as being all about money - because we are not. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to prove this otherwise.”

Otherwise, reviewers repeatedly described a program and staff that had welcomed them and helped them to thoroughly change their lives. “Ashwood recovery assisted me with discovering a life free from addiction The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly. I felt everone on the staff was committed to do any thing they could to help me in my journey,” E.J. wrote in a representative review on Google.

According to Ashwood Recovery’s website, the facility accepts most forms of insurance as well as private payment, including via credit card. An initial assessment costs $150. The single alum polled by to date gave the center five stars for its affordability.
