Aspire Recovery Philosophy
We recognize that in treating addiction and co-occurring disorders, we’re doing much more than treating a diagnosis — we are treating people, each with their unique needs, backgrounds and belief systems.
Areas of Specialization
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
The focus of cognitive behavioral therapy (also called CBT) is helping people to understand the thoughts and emotions that underlie their addiction with the goal of learning new, healthier and more productive ways to understand and express themselves.
Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.

ABOUT ASPIRE RECOVERY - FAIRFIELD
Located in the coastal community of Fairfield, Conn., Aspire Recovery is a high-end treatment facility that provides residential programs and aftercare for adults struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. Aspire Recovery of Fairfield is the second facility opened by Aspire Recovery, who also operates a facility in California. The facility does not offer on-site detoxification; however, the facility does provide medication-assisted treatment to alleviate the discomfort of initial withdrawal.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients participate in an initial assessment within 24 to 72 hours to help clinicians determine an individualized treatment plan. Aspire Recovery’s three-stage residential program lasts 30, 60, or 90 days, depending on the specific needs of the client. Aspire Recovery’s programming combines evidence-based treatment modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), with an immersion into the 12-step model of recovery.
During Level I of treatment, clients participate in a structured schedule of individual, group, and family counseling sessions to address the underlying factors that may contribute to addictive behavior. Residents are also introduced to the principles and practices of 12-Step. Residents may attend on- and off-site 12-step meetings, study fellowship literature, and perform associated “step-work.” In addition, Aspire Recovery utilizes eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) sessions to treat issues of trauma, and dual diagnosed individuals may also receive psychiatric evaluations and medication management.
Once a client is comfortable in early recovery, they transition into Level II of treatment, which allows clients to focus on educational, employment, or volunteer opportunities to promote self-sufficiency upon discharge. Clients may receive assistance with resume creation, applying for and enrolling in school, job searches, and budgeting. During this phase, the facility also provides transportation for job searches, school, and other important opportunities.
If applicable, clients then transition into Level III of treatment after approximately 90 days of residential treatment. During Level III, which functions as Aspire’s aftercare program, clients are expected to obtain employment, enroll in school, or volunteer within the community. Clients continue to see a primary counselor on an outpatient basis, attend aftercare groups, and attend 12-step meetings. Aftercare classes focus on improving relapse prevention and coping strategy techniques.
While the typical length of residential treatment lasts between 30 and 90 days, clients may extent residential treatment for up to six months. Along with its evidence-based programming, the facility emphasizes recreational activities and community involvement as important elements to promote long-term lifestyle changes. Clients may participate in guided yoga, meditation sessions, spirituality classes, art therapy, and an exercise regimen.
Aspire Recovery employs a team of licensed substance abuse counselors, case managers, and a support staff. Consulting psychiatrists and physicians experienced in addiction medicine may also provide psychiatric evaluations and administer medications.
