ABOUT BETHANY HALL
Founded in 1970, Bethany Hall provides evidence-based, family-friendly substance abuse treatment to adult women. Located in Roanoke, Va., in a large Victorian home with a wrap-around porch, this rehab is a haven for women with children. The center offers long-term residential treatment, and caters to the unique needs of pregnant women, postpartum women, and mothers with children. Detox is not provided on-site, and women must be medically stable prior to admission.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
An application must be filled out for admission, which is typically followed by a phone interview. Before being admitted, clients must have had a TB test within the past year, provide verification of pregnancy (if applicable), and pass a drug and alcohol screening. Women with children can bring one infant six months or younger with them to treatment.
Treatment at Bethany Hall is holistic and utilizes a Therapeutic Community (TC) approach. This requires clients to participate in group-based activities to learn how to effectively communicate with peers and staff, as well as maintain accountability (keeping personal areas clean, etc.) and problem solve when group issues arise. Women also learn and follow 12-step methodology and regularly attend 12-step meetings.
