ABOUT BRADFORD HEALTH SERVICES – KNOXVILLE
One of nearly 30 facilities in the Bradford Health Services’ treatment network, the Knoxville, Tenn., location offers intensive outpatient programs and continuing care plans for adults and adolescents of at least 13 years of age who are struggling with chemical dependency. Bradford Health Services of Knoxville does not offer on-site detoxification services; however, the treatment network does provide no-cost intervention services and treatment consultations. Additional locations are mostly spread throughout Alabama but also parts of Florida and Arkansas where a variety of services can be accessed.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Before beginning treatment, clients undergo a multidisciplinary assessment to ensure an outpatient-based program is an appropriate level of care. Although the program’s intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment requires attending sessions multiple times a week, clients must be medically stable and able to maintain sobriety without supervision. An abstinence-based program, Bradford Health Services’ treatment approach is founded in 12-step involvement while incorporating evidence-based methods.
In addition to 12-step immersion, both the adult and adolescent IOP programs focus on relapse prevention education and group therapy sessions and may include adventure-based programs and educational training. Group discussions are small and tailored to address age-relevant issues. For example, adult programs may discuss issues of parenting, while the adolescent program may address the neurobiological consequences of addiction during teenage years. During treatment, family members are highly encouraged to attend Al-Anon meetings to familiarize themselves with the disease of addiction.
To assist in long-term stability, Bradford Health Services of Knoxville also offers continuing care services for its adult and adolescent clients upon discharge. The facility provides ongoing monitoring, referrals to 12-step opportunities within the community, and encourages clients to become involved in Bradford Health Services’ alumni association.
Accredited by the Joint Commission, Bradford Health Services of Knoxville employs a multidisciplinary team of master’s level substance abuse counselors, counselors experienced with adolescents, intervention specialists, case managers, and program coordinators.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Feedback from just one alum to date on Rehabs.com indicates that they felt the program was highly beneficial, offering positive ratings for family involvement, affordability, and holistic inclusion. The anonymous reviewer gave a five-star rating for overall treatment effectiveness and wrote: “Nice staff. The Wait was a weakness. Great help.” Although the alum cited the friendliness of staff as a strength, they also provided more neutral opinions of the level of experience of staff members and the amount of counseling options.
Reviews on third party websites are almost equally as positive. On Google, four reviewers all rated the facility five out of five stars, and one alum wrote: “I love that there's a place like this with such caring professionals that are so willing to help people like us. Knowing the problems we have and the attention we need. They're there every step of the way to help you through.”
CiteHealth reviewers, of which there are just two at the time of this writing, also gave the highest possible rating, five out of five stars. An anonymous alum who indicated they were 15 years old at the time they gave their feedback wrote: “Been there many times for my pills and cutting problems… I no longer have these problems. They helped alot for me and if I ever have these problems, I willl tust Bradford to help me!!”
Individuals who posted reviews on Facebook had more mixed opinions. Brad awarded four out of five stars and said, “The people there are nice understanding and chill they don't judge and they tried to help and it works if you work it.” A review from Robin offered a negative opinion. She posted a one-star review and wrote: “These people only care about money- it's not about recovery.” Thirteen Facebook reviewers gave four stars overall, but as some five-star reviews are from staff members, this rating may be inflated.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Providing moderately negative opinions of overall treatment effectiveness, survey results from a single loved one reported a lack of counseling options and no inclusion of holistic treatment methods. Much like alumni, T.D. also commented on the friendliness of staff but offered lower ratings for staff experience. They wrote: “Staff is friendly, These rehabs are a joke. They give people the run around.”
WHAT STAFF SAY
Rehabs.com has yet to receive reviews from staff members, but on Glassdoor, there is one response from someone who worked at the Knoxville location. They gave just one out of five stars and said: “I remember they were highly about the numbers and getting more patients in daily to meet their revenue.” The facility’s overall 2.1-star rating on this secondary site is based off 40 reviews to date.
According to the facility’s website, Bradford Health Services accepts most major insurance providers for treatment and offers private pay options for the under or uninsured.
