ABOUT BRIDGEWAY

Located in the center of Oregon’s Willamette Valley in the community of Salem, Bridgeway provides residential treatment for adults struggling with substance abuse, co-occurring conditions, or gambling addiction. Bridgeway also offers specialized, outpatient-based program tracks for adolescents, problem gambling, co-occurring disorders, and DUI offenders. Medically monitored detoxification is also available on-site, and all programs are available in Spanish.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

To determine an appropriate level of care, clients may participate in an initial behavioral health assessment. Clients who require a structured schedule to acquire sobriety may be referred to the residential program. Typically lasting between 45 to 60 days, the residential program involves a highly-structured, 35-hour weekly schedule of active therapy. If detoxification is necessary, the process typically lasts between five and seven days.

During residential care, clients follow a customized treatment program that incorporates individual, group and family therapy, 12-step meetings, self-developmental education, and recreational activities. To educate loved ones on the process of recovery, family involvement is encouraged throughout treatment. Bridgeway also integrates holistic approaches to support a sober lifestyle. The approaches may include yoga, guided meditation, gardening, and artistic expression. Ongoing medication management is available to individuals struggling with co-occurring mental health difficulties.

Residential treatment for problem gambling is similar to chemical dependency, though all counselors are certified by the State of Oregon to treat gambling addiction. In addition to therapy and off-site support meetings, the program also includes financial planning assistance and gambling education.

All of Bridgeway’s outpatient programming is tailored to the individual participant’s needs. Most clients receive five hours of active treatment each week and remain in the program for up to 90 days. Once a client completes the program, Bridgeway actively connects them with community resources to help support continued recovery.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Bridgeway’s multidisciplinary staff includes an on-site medical director, program supervisors, certified drug and alcohol addiction counselors, and certified problem gambling counselors.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Bridgeway offers two residences: Santiam House to treat program gambling and a main residence to treat chemical dependency. Images sourced from the facility’s website showed home-like residences with private or shared bedrooms, well-furnished communal areas, a full kitchen, and private bathrooms. Meals are prepared on-site by an executive chef and include fresh produce harvested from the residential garden. Regular visitation is allowed, and Bridgeway hosts a Sunday brunch for residents and visitors each week.

Eight of the 10 individuals polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave an average rating of 3.81 out of five stars for the faciity’s exercise and leisure activities. Two survey respondents did not rate this metric. “If you are ready to quit. It's not about all the luxury. It's about treatment. And they are good,” alum Kimberly wrote.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The seven alumni polled by Rehabs.com praised the facility, particularly its treatment staff. For the treatment staff’s level of experience and training, the seven alumni provided an average rating of 4.43 stars. Most of the employees are recovering addicts themselves and that made it easier for me to be honest about my addiction and the treatment I needed,” Michael wrote.

The seven alumni also approved the facility’s overall approach, awarding the facility’s counseling options –– and the quality of counseling –– an average rating of 4.14 out of five stars. “They addressed individual as well as group treatment. Explained addiction and gave positive steps to create a program to stay clean and sober,” Ken wrote.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The three loved ones polled by Rehabs.com tended to agree with positive alumni opinions, though some survey respondents offered more tempered feedback. Although providing a four-star rating for the inclusion of holistic treatments, an anonymous loved one felt the facility was understaffed and underfunded. However, they added: “They were able to help my loved one, and through counseling and other programs my loved one has not relapsed in 3 years of sobriety.” Another loved one applauded the facility’s ability to assist in reinstating a client’s driver’s license while offering the tools necessary to remain sober

WHAT STAFF SAY

Secondary sources revealed overall positive employee opinions. On Indeed, four employees offered an average rating of 4.3 out of five stars, many citing the facility’s work environment and co-workers as strengths.”I have learned that it is truly how you treat a person that really makes a difference in their healing process,” a nurse wrote.[1]

FINANCING

There is currently no information provided on the facility's website regarding its costs. However, a majority of the individuals polled at the time of this writing felt the facility was well-worth its cost.

Very secure and seems to have good employees. Strict policies. Understaffed and under funded. Facility is not well maintained. They were able to help my loved one, and through counseling and other programs my loved one has not relapsed in 3 years of sobriety.

I do not know of anyone who has went to this facility and made a recovery. I think most of them are on State provided insurance so the facility is just after easy money. That is my opinion. I have heard bad things about this place & think it should be investigated.

The workers their are amazing. My in patient counselor was really good. As all the counselor were. You feel like the actually care about you !!Think there might have been a little too much freedom. I did fine but others took advantage of it and bright stuff into treatment or left to get high. It kinda made it hard on people that are trying. This treatment center was not like the ones you see on tv. .it's not all fancy. But they do good work. If you are ready to quit. It's not about all the luxury . It's about treatment. And they are good.

Well structured 12 steps, easy to follow. Too many people that were forced to be there (court ordered) made the place feel different, hollow.) Maybe sort threw people more, with groups of people that want to be there with the people who are court ordered. It made it hard to concentrate.

Bridgeway was good to help get his license back and provided him with some tools he did not have before. But my friend still struggles with alcohol. He has the tools. Needs some more. Having found he us on the Aspergers spectrum has helped explain some issues for him.
