ABOUT CATALYST BEHAVIORAL SERVICES — COMMUNITY HOUSE
Founded in 1973 and headquartered in the north of Oklahoma City, nonprofit Catalyst Behavioral Services operates several locations that provide a range of treatments for those struggling with substance abuse issues, as well as mental health issues.
Community House, located in a quiet, leafy neighborhood in central Oklahoma City, is a residential facility for adult men and women.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment, which is used to put together individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs. Treatment uses individual, group, and family therapy. The center does not provide extensive further details of its program, but reviews submitted to Rehabs.com indicated that treatment uses the 12-Steps, and that residents attend meetings off-site.
In appropriate cases, the center offers medication-assisted treatment, facilitated by a physician.
The facility employs full-time licensed therapists as well as physicians, psychiatrists, and nurses. The four alumni and loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the staff's level of training and experience an average of 4.1 out of five stars.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
This facility offers 55 beds in semi-private rooms. During their stay, residents may enjoy on-site volleyball and basketball courts, an exercise area, and entertainment rooms. All meals are approved by a staff dietitian, and families may visit every weekend.
Several Rehabs.com reviewers described this facility as run-down, though the four alumni and loved ones polled to date on the center’s accommodations gave them an average rating of 3.5 out of five stars.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
All three of the alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date would recommend treatment at Community House. The reviews painted a picture of a facility that offers solid basic care without much extracurricular programming: all three alumni gave the facility four or five out of five stars for the overall effectiveness of its treatment, but just one or two stars for its holistic options. The single alum polled on the center’s treatment for co-occurring disorders gave just two stars in this category, too. In their comments, reviewers repeatedly stressed that though this is far from a luxury facility, its program worked for them: “It is a state funded facility so it is kind of run down looking, but the people are great and you can stay as long as you need to,” G.H.Y. wrote in a representative review.
At the time of this writing, the center had mostly positive, but polarized reviews spread across Facebook (one five-star rating), Google (three five-star ratings and a one-star rating), and CiteHealth (three five-star ratings, a four-star rating, and two one-star ratings). The negative reviewers cited run-down conditions, but positive reviewers stressed the profoundly positive effect the center had had on their lives despite its not being a luxury rehab — much like the alumni polled by Rehabs.com. “My experience with catalyst was life changing… The outside appearance and location is not the most desirable but what it lacks in appeal in that area it more than makes up for with the warmth and family like appeal it has to offer,” Tammy wrote in a representative positive review on Facebook.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
The single loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date would recommend treatment at this facility. They gave the center four or five out of five stars in most of the 15 evaluated treatment metrics, including its holistic and counseling options, its overall effectiveness, and its treatment for co-occurring disorders. They gave the center just three stars for its family program. “This facility I would highly recommend. The knowledgeable staff are always on hand,” they wrote anonymously.
WHAT STAFF SAY
The single staffer polled by Rehabs.com to date, Mike, gave very positive feedback. Mike gave Community House five out of five stars in almost all of the evaluated treatment metrics, including its honesty, willingness to put clients’ interests first, and overall quality. “Great place to change your life and regain self-respect,” he wrote.
According to Catalyst’s website, the organization accepts most health insurance plans as well as Medicaid and Medicare. The two individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center’s affordability gave it a three-star rating and a five-star rating respectively.
