Rehabs.com Editorial Review
Located in central Lincoln, Neb., CenterPointe offers nearly 30 programs to assist those struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. The facility does not offer medical detox, but has a variety of residential and outpatient programs, plus sober living facilities. The organization is particularly geared to help homeless and low-income individuals.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
CenterPointe uses a harm reduction model to help its clients work toward abstinence and stability. The center uses the 12-Steps with clients for whom that pathway is helpful, as well as exploring clients’ spiritual paths and encouraging them to develop personal “wellness recovery action plans.”
Treatment programs seem to be relatively traditional in nature, combining individual, group, and family counseling with psychiatric and nursing care, where necessary, plus recreational therapy, medication management, case management, and education on mental health, substance abuse, wellness, and life skills.
Residential treatment programs consist of a long-term co-occurring disorders program for homeless individuals and a short-term program for those with low incomes. General outpatient treatment is also offered; the center does not appear to offer partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient programs. There’s also a 24-hour “community transitions” residential facility, providing a stage between hospitalization and independent living.
According to the facility’s website, clinicians are dually licensed in mental health and substance abuse. The clinical team is headed by a master’s level mental health professional and an addiction counselor.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
For homeless individuals, CenterPointe believes in a Housing First model, which places clients in their own apartments immediately. The three individuals polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing mostly gave the facility four- and five-star ratings for its accommodations, food, and cleanliness.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
At the time of this writing, Rehabs.com has not received any alumni reviews. Secondary reviews sites yielded just one review, which was very positive. Jaye, writing in a five-star review on HealthGrove, praised her psychiatrist and counselor. “I could talk to her about alot… There program is great... need help give tthem a call you can not go wrong if you do.”
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
All three loved ones polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave positive feedback overall, with unanimous four- and five-star ratings for the center’s treatment effectiveness, accommodations, meals and nutrition, family participation, admin and discharge policies, and the staff’s level of training and experience. “They also help with counseling after care, help with rent and utilities,” one anonymous reviewer wrote.
Yet two reviewers mentioned that their loved ones had relapsed, and attributed the relapse to a lack of aftercare. “They do there best but they started using again after release.they should do more follow up,” one anonymous reviewer wrote.
WHAT STAFF SAY
The nine reviews left on Indeed, an employment reviews site, were positive. The facility received an average rating of 4.3 stars overall, 4.1 stars for the organization’s management, 3.9 stars for its work/life balance, but just 2.4 stars for its compensation and benefits. In their comments, reviewers repeatedly praised the management as caring and supportive, and described the environment as friendly: “Great teamwork throughout the entire agency,” one former employee wrote.
According to its website, CenterPointe offers a sliding fee scale for qualifying individuals, and accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance. Two of the three individuals polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave the facility five stars for its affordability. The other individual gave the facility three stars.
