Clinical Services of Rhode Island, Greenville Philosophy
Clinical Services of Rhode Island (CSRI) provides outpatient rehab and addiction treatment services that embody a “big-picture” approach to substance abuse treatment, addressing the client’s lifestyle and environmental factors contributing to the addiction. Partnerships are created with each client’s family, loved ones, and community resources during the course of treatment to lay the groundwork for aftercare. Using individualized treatment plans and research-based therapy, CSRI doesn’t just focus on the substance abuse, but uses the client’s strengths to concentrate on a sober future, and build a self-directed life.
Areas of Specialization
Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.
Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term “medical detoxification” means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.
Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.

For more than 25 years, Peter has treated clients in a variety of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings while maintaining a thriving private psychotherapy practice. Tammi Dutchover, MS, LCDP
Tammi is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Addiction Counseling. A former Texas Deputy Sheriff with extensive experience in the criminal justice system, Tammi has been a Domestic Violence 101 instructor and taught at Bryant University for the Public Safety Academy for Colleges and Universities. Prior to joining CSRI, Tammi owned her own private practice. Just as with most professionals in the substance abuse treatment field, Tammi has been affected by the disease of addiction and its impact on her family. In 1983, her mother lost her only brother at the age of 24 as he battled to leave drugs behind. She also watched her grandfather struggle with alcohol addiction and lost her father at the age of 36 to cirrhosis of the liver. Her experiences have informed a treatment approach that provides both support and practical feedback to help clients address current life challenges related to the disease of addiction. Applying a highly personalized approach with compassion and understanding, Tammi provides individual, couples, and family counseling that helps clients attain the personal growth they’re striving for.

Ed credits his growth in the field to his ability to build therapeutic alliances and work collaboratively with clients. He is excited about the future of recovery and the opportunity to be involved in something bigger than himself.
