Hope of East Tennessee is a non-profit organization that provides residential treatment as well as outpatient services and intensive outpatient treatment for alcohol and drug addictions, as well as mental health concerns. The facility does not discriminate based on race, religion, national origin, sexual preference, or financial status. Hope does not offer detox services and requires that the participants be substance free before beginning treatment. This facility offers services to help individuals become sober and responsible members of their communities.

The facility bases most of its treatment around the 12-Step program. Women entering the first phase of transitional living must have already successfully completed a 28-day inpatient treatment program. After entering phase one of the transition program, they begin intensive outpatient treatment while staying in one of the transition homes and receiving staff and peer support. They are assisted in finding employment and developing a sober support system before moving into phase two. Phase two offers continued support and assistance of staff as individuals return home and begin a new, productive, sober life. Length of stay in the residences averages around six months. Upon completing the phases of transitional treatment, the women may also receive outpatient services including aftercare, individual counseling, and special focus groups on topics such as relapse prevention and dual diagnosis.

The men’s program offers a halfway house residential treatment home offering a therapeutic community, where most of the decision making power is in the hands of the residents. Privilege levels, discharges, etc. are still determined by the staff. Upon admission, each resident has a thorough assessment completed, is assigned an individual counselor/case manager, and a specialized course of treatment is determined based on the individual’s needs and problems. Length of stay in the residence averages anywhere from 90 to 120 days and is flexible based on the needs of the resident.

Staff at the facility consist of administrative workers, counselors, and residence coordinators. The facility does not specify if there are medical staff members available.

The facility’s women’s transition residences offer 11 beds spread amongst three fully furnished apartment units. The men’s residence has capacity for 15 beds. The facility’s website does not give further details the amenities of the homes.

There was one alum polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing. The client, an anonymous female, gave the facility a five- out of five-star rating for treatment effectiveness, accommodations & amenities, and meals & nutrition.

She strongly agreed when asked if the facility offered excellent leisure, exercise, and extracurricular options; if the facility had high quality holistic offerings; if family and loved ones were able to participate in treatment through facility programming, if the facility was clean and well maintained; if the treatment was affordable and/or offered payment plans, scholarships, or financial assistance; and if the facility had fair cell phone and visitor policies.

When asked about strengths of the facility, she wrote “it was very calm peaceful helpful standard place.” She added, “I really don't have much more to say about it it was a good experience and I got me clean.”

At the time of this writing there has been one friend or family member polled by Rehabs.com. The anonymous female gave the facility a five out of five rating for treatment effectiveness, a four- out of five-star rating for accommodations and amenities, and a three- out of five-star rating for meals & nutrition.

She agreed when asked if the facility had swift, organized, and clearly explained admissions and discharge procedures; if the treatment and services offered at the facility were worth the cost; and if she would recommend the facility to a friend or family member who was considering treatment.

When asked about the facility’s strengths, she wrote “They have some well informed people staying at the location.” When asked about weaknesses she wrote, “There hopefully will be more options for exercise, workouts, and extracurricular activities.” When asked for commentary, she added “Having the option to believe and practice whatever religious practice one partakes in would be easier to do if everyone was educated about different beliefs. Not just one. It's okay to do just one but educate others so they won't be fearful of anything outside of what they are born with.”

The cost of the men’s residence program is $125 per week, which includes room, board, counseling, and drug screens upon admission and at random for cause. The women’s transitional residence is $110/week including room, board, and the intensive outpatient program plus additional staff support throughout the stay. The facility’s outpatient program offers the opportunity to bill insurances including Tenncare - Amerigroup, Bluecare, United Healthcare, and commercial Blue Cross Blue Shield. The facility indicates it will not discriminate based on individual’s financial status.
