ABOUT HUMAN RESOURCES, INC. – WILLOW OAKS RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT
Located on 14 acres of scenic countryside in Cartersville, Va., Willow Oaks Residential Treatment offers an intensive residential program and a long-term residential program for adults struggling with chemical dependency. The rehab also provides an on-site detoxification program for individuals recovering from opiate dependency. Willow Oaks Residential Treatment is a division of Human Resources, Inc., a nonprofit provider of substance abuse services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission into the residential program, clients undergo an initial assessment for clinicians to form an individualized treatment plan. If necessary, Willow Oaks offers on-site medication-assisted detoxification for individuals recovering from opiates. Typically lasting between seven and 14 days, the program utilizes Suboxone to alleviate symptoms of opiate withdrawal. Once the client completes detoxification, clinicians work with them to help taper off the Suboxone regimen.
Residential programming blends psychotherapy, skills training, and 12-step involvement to help clients achieve and maintain sobriety. Clients participate in individual, group, and family counseling to address the underlying issues contributing to their addictive behaviors. They also attend gender-specific groups, as well as groups on relapse prevention, anger management, coping skills, and stress management. Alternative methods, such as acupuncture, also may be integrated.
The residential program consists of a 28-day intensive period, which may focus on achieving sobriety and detoxification, while Intermediate Care (60 to 90 days) emphasizes learning skills to sustain sobriety. Along with core programming, the facility partners with community-based agencies to provide vocational training, G.E.D. testing and classes, computer classes, and spirituality groups. As clients complete the residential program, clinicians develop a comprehensive aftercare plan to support lasting sobriety.
According to its website, the facility employs a multidisciplinary team of physicians, addictionologists, clinical psychologists, certified clinicians, educators, and other trained specialists.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY
At the time of this writing, the three alumni polled by Rehabs.com had varying opinions concerning the facility. Two respondents gave high four and five out of five stars to the overall effectiveness of the program and perfect five-star ratings for the other major survey categories of accommodations and meals. These same two alumni provided four-star ratings for the staff’s level of experience and training and whether they would recommend this facility.
“Wonderful and knowledgeable staff,” alum M.R. told Rehabs.com. Supporting this opinion, alum Thomas cited the “knowledge and friendliness of staff” as a facility strength. Yet he offered a rating of just two stars for the level of family participation. The more critical anonymous alum echoed this view: “Needs improvement in family participation.”
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing praised many aspects of the facility. J.H., a parent of a client, submitted the top five-star ratings for the facility’s staff support and counseling options. “To get my son thinking the way he does, their program had to have been very good. I feel that they did a very good job,” J.H. wrote. Yet they offered a rating of just one star for the level of family involvement.
The facility’s website states: “Rates for service vary; for accurate up-to-date information, contact the program for the current fee schedule.”
