Midwest Recovery Centers Philosophy
Midwest Recovery Centers strives to provide affordable, honest, and exceptional recovery support to those individuals struggling with alcohol and drug dependence. We maintain the highest treatment standards through utilization of empirically validated practices. Our clients are treated with respect and kindness in an ethical environment.
Areas of Specialization
Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.
Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.
Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.
Meet the Staff

Professional Relations Consultant
Geffen has been in the field of addiction work for over 17 years. Having gotten clean and sober at a young age, it has been his passion to help other people experience the joy and freedom of recovery. ABOUT MIDWEST RECOVERY CENTERS
Based in Kansas City, Mo., Midwest Recovery Centers is a group of transitional, gender-specific residences that provides multi-phased, extended care treatment for men struggling with chemical dependency or co-occurring mental health issues. The residences also offer men a supportive, supervised living environment while undergoing weekly programming.
Midwest Recovery Centers does not offer detox services on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients receive an initial assessment to diagnosis their primary condition and identify any co-occurring mental health or behavioral disorders. To help clients achieve sobriety and an increasingly independent, self-sufficient lifestyle, Midwest Recovery Centers’ treatment program is broken up into three distinct phases and based on the principles and practices of 12-Step.
During Phase 1, approximately 90 days in length, residents adhere to a highly regimented, supervised schedule. Clients attend at least one 12-step meeting daily, receive one hour of weekly individual therapy, and partake in 18 hours of group therapy per week. When not in therapy, clients enjoy weekly, staff-supervised recreational activities, community events, and gym outings.
Phase 2 typically lasts between three and six months. Here, clients receive bi-weekly individual therapy sessions and four hours of weekly group counseling. While continuing their daily 12-step meetings, residents begin to seek out employment and contribute to everyday living expenses. Before transitioning into the Phase 3, clients must obtain secure and continued employment or educational pursuits.
Residents in Phase 3, the “Alumni Phase,” receive two hours of weekly group counseling and individual counseling sessions as needed. Although the treatment centers continue to provide constant staff monitoring, residents in Phase 3 enjoy a heightened level of autonomy and independence. During each phase of treatment, residents are subject to scheduled toxicology testing.
A family program is also available to loved ones, offering educational and counseling sessions and outings, and alumni have access to continued treatment through an ongoing aftercare program.
Midwest Recovery Centers employs a team of licensed professionals experienced in substance abuse and recovery. To ensure attentive, customized treatment, the facilities offer a staff-to-client ratio of 2:1.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The seven former clients polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing offered praise for the 12-step based programming, the facility's "supportive" staff, and the "freedom" granted within a structured environment.
"Great outpatient meetings, has given me a new outlook on recovery," one alum, Marty, wrote. Another, Oscar, added: "More freedom and you get to meet people from 12 step meetings and fellowship. Has a very supportive staff." With the prospective clientele in mind, alum David wrote: “If you’re serious about recovery or have a loved one that needs serious recovery. This facility is the one that I would recommend to anyone.”
WHAT STAFF SAY
At the time of this writing, the five staff members surveyed by Rehabs.com supported the positive alumni experiences and perspectives. Of the three polled on the matter, staff members gave four- and five-star ratings for the level of family involvement in treatment and for the exercise and leisure activities available. Jesse cited the facility’s phase system as highly effective, allowing clients “to grow and develop their own pace.”
Other employees polled also celebrated the facility's integration of the 12-Step methodology, the supportive staff, as well as the safe and distraction-free environment. “The sober housing also gives not only a safe place for clients, but comradery with the other clients. Giving them the opportunity to put in practice what they’ve learned or share in what they are going through,” J.S.N. added.
Midwest Recovery Centers is out-of-network with private insurance companies, and benefits are determined on a case-by-case basis. Financial assistance, covering up to 60 percent of program cost, may be available to qualified clientele.
