Nsight Psychology & Addiction Philosophy
Nsight takes an Integrative and Solution Focused approach to therapy based on evidenced based practices. CBT, DBT, and Family Systems orientations are utilized in an emotionally focused manner to assist client in overcoming emotional issues that reinforce the dependence on substances as a coping skill.
Areas of Specialization
Trauma & Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT)
Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT) uses the brain’s innate ability to adapt to change in a healing way, essentially “retraining” the brain to respond differently to familiar memories of trauma or pain.
Dual Diagnosis/Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment
Nsight Psychology & Addiction provides both primary mental health (mood disorders, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma/PTSD) and substance abuse treatment. While most programs talk about offering treatment for dual diagnosis issues, they are not staffed to provide those services. Nsight has 10 licensed therapists and a psychiatrist on staff who specialize in trauma, mood disorders, eating disorders, substance abuse, and family systems.
Patients who undergo intensive outpatient treatment continue to live at home and sometimes go to school or work while participating in a highly structured treatment protocol that is focused on ending substance abuse. Programs vary in terms of how much treatment patients receive, how often and for how long. Some facilities design individualized intensive outpatient treatment programs.
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. With 10 licensed therapists on staff you can be assured that you will received an individualized treatment plan and more individual therapy sessions per week than most other treatment programs can offer.
Process Abuse Treatment
Not all addictions involve mood-altering chemicals. The term “process addiction” describes the unhealthy use of behaviors (including eating, gambling, sexual activity, shopping, internet use, etc.) that has spiraled out of control and into the realm of addiction.

ABOUT NSIGHT PSYCHOLOGY & ADDICTION
Located in the seaside community of Newport Beach, Calif., 20 miles southwest of Anaheim, Nsight Psychology and Addiction is an upscale treatment provider that specializes in treating adults struggling with dual diagnosis. Founded in 2013, the facility provides short-term inpatient, residential, day treatment, and outpatient programs. Detoxification is not available on-site.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the center’s website, Nsight Psychology and Addiction treats both the behavioral issues of chemical dependency, as well as the underlying psychological contributors to addictive behavior. To help clinicians form an individualized program curriculum, clients first undergo a psychological and behavioral assessment. If the client requires stabilization, they may be referred to a closely monitored, short-term inpatient program, which typically lasts between seven and 10 days.
Clients may then transition into the 30- to 90-day residential program. Nsight Psychology and Addiction provides a multidisciplinary approach to treatment, which combines evidence-based treatment methods with self-help program participation, either a 12-step or a non-12-step fellowship, such as SMART Recovery. The facility also encourages loved ones to participate in its therapeutic and educational family program.
To address psychological issues contributing to addictive behaviors, the facility utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) in individual and group therapy sessions. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) may also be incorporated into programming to address issues of trauma. Throughout treatment, clients receive ongoing medication management to help alleviate symptoms of mental health disorders.
Along with psychiatric treatment, clients participate in life skills workshops and receive alternative treatments, such as acupuncture. Once a client indicates progress and increased functioning, they can transition into a less intensive level of treatment. Day treatment, for example, consists of five hours of daily programming, while the intensive outpatient program involves nine hours of weekly treatment.
Upon completing treatment at the facility, clients are encouraged to continue meeting with a clinician for individual psychotherapy and/or ongoing medication management.
A CARF-accredited facility, Nsight Psychology and Addiction employs a multidisciplinary team of qualified clinicians, including two consulting psychiatrists, master’s level marriage and family therapists, licensed clinical social workers, and case managers, according to the center’s website.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
With accommodations to house up to 32 residents, Nsight Psychology and Addiction’s homelike living facilities feature spacious, double occupancy bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, well-appointed communal areas, full kitchens, washers and dryers, outdoor patios, and soothing, tasteful décor, the center’s website indicates.
