ABOUT PACIFIC COAST DETOX
One of six facilities operated by Sprout Health Group, a nationwide healthcare management company, Pacific Coast Detox provides a full continuum of treatment programs — detox, residential, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), and outpatient-based programs — to treat the social, emotional, and psychological aspects of addiction. Located in the community of Costa Mesa, Calif., 42 miles south of Los Angeles, Pacific Coast Detox also provides gender-specific sober living facilities.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Before detox, clients participate in a pre-intake phone assessment, then meet with a clinician in-person to determine the most appropriate type of detoxification and the severity of the situation. The length of the detoxification program typically lasts between three and 14 days. During this time, clients are monitored, and medications may be utilized, such as buprenorphine (Suboxone, Subutex), to alleviate the physical and mental symptoms associated with opioid/opiate addiction.
Once stabilized, clinicians may refer clients to an appropriate level of care. Pacific Coast Detox's residential program blends evidence-based treatment methods with holistic treatments, such as guided meditation and yoga. Along with an immersion into the 12-Step model of recovery, which may include attending meetings and performing "step-work," clients participate in a schedule of individual and group counseling sessions. A family program is also available to loved ones.
The outpatient-based programs may be utilized as "step-down" aftercare services for residential program alumni. While PHP's programming may be similar to residential care, clients return home in the evenings. The intensive outpatient program may consist of attending three sessions per week, while the frequency of traditional outpatient sessions is determined by individual needs.
Pacific Coast Detox employs a team of master’s level drug and alcohol counselors, social workers, registered clinical supervisors, licensed nurses, clinical psychologists, and registered addiction specialists. The facility boasts an intimate staff-to-client ratio of 3:1.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Pacific Coast Detox’s facility is comprised of three gender-specific buildings —two men’s facilities and a women’s facility. Each unit houses up to six clients, and clients typically share a double-occupancy room, however, in some cases, the facility can comfortable accommodate up to 25 clients. Employees staff the homelike facilities 24 hours a day, and residents receive personalized meals. Although clients are not allowed to have cell phones, individuals may bring a music playing device with headphones.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Although Rehabs.com has yet to receive feedback from alumni at the time of this writing, limited feedback left on Google and Yelp revealed mixed opinions of the facility. Both Google reviewers gave perfect five-star ratings to the facility, while the one Yelp reviewer gave the facility a polar opposite one-star rating. 
On Google, alum David commented: “Really a wonderful facility run by great staff wholeheartedly invested in the drug and alcohol detoxification process at their center in Costa Mesa.” Yet on Yelp, alum Chad disagreed and felt the program was financially driven with poor living arrangements. “It's uncomfortable and bad for your bank account if the management take advantage of your situation,” he wrote.
WHAT STAFF SAY
The sole employee, Sabrina, surveyed by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing praised the dedication and attentiveness of staff members. "Focused clinical team. All staff is part of tx and discharge for clients," she told Rehabs.com.
The current cost of treatment is $16,500 per month or $450 per day. According to the program’s website, Pacific Coast Detox works with most private insurance providers. Admission counselors are available to help clients determine their insurance coverage and any out-of-pocket costs.
