Located in West Haven, Conn., just one mile from the beach, the Step Up Inn Sober Home for Women offers long-term, structured sober living for women in recovery for substance abuse. Step Up Inn identifies as a high-end, environmentally friendly establishment.

The Step Up Inn allows clients to participate in daily life activities and reintegrate into society within the safety of a substance-free living environment. Residents are kept accountable via breathalyzer tests, which are administered three times per day. There are also random drug screenings at least once a week, and a strict 9 p.m. curfew.

Residents are assigned chores within the house and encouraged to attend regular AA/NA meetings. They also participate in the facility’s special services, including workshops on relapse prevention, money management and budgeting, life planning, resume building, and employment prep. There is also a yoga program, and family visitation each Sunday.

Though clients are responsible for keeping the house clean and in order, there is a 24-hour innkeeper on-site. In addition to the house manager, who is in recovery herself, there is also an on-staff regional manager and administrator.

Residents live in a four-floor, 17th-century colonial building, which has been fully renovated and includes a full-service kitchen, a large TV room, free Wi-Fi, a yoga and workout studio, and spacious meeting rooms. The home is set just one block from the center of town, giving clients easy access to businesses, shops, jobs, etc.

Rehabs.com has not yet received any reviews from this facility’s alumni, affiliated friends or family members, or staff.

On Step Up Inn’s official Facebook page, which the facility can manage, all three reviewers to date have given perfect five-star ratings.[1] Confident to speak on the behalf of her housemates, reviewer D.B. wrote: “The house feels like a home to myself and the women here. Without this transition i don't know if my recovery would have been possible!”

The Step Up Inn accepts some private insurance.

Official Facility Response

Rehabs.com collects thousands of User Reviews weekly to collect the most up-to-date information possible on treatment facilities across the country. The opinions shared in User Reviews are expressly those of the user, and do not reflect the thoughts, beliefs, or opinions of Rehabs.com. Per our policies, we do not remove User Reviews at the request of a facility.

Treatment facilities can and are encouraged to respond directly to any User Review, positive or negative. In fact, visitors are more likely to favorably consider a facility that actively responds to criticism (and praise!) to one that doesn’t.

Please leave your Facility Response below using a verified facility-specific email address. A representative from Rehabs.com will vet your response within two business days to ensure it meets our standards for public posting. Rehabs.com retains the right to contact anyone who leaves a review via our website to confirm authenticity.
