ABOUT RIVER PARK HOSPITAL
Located in Huntington, W.V., River Park Hospital provides short-term inpatient treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors struggling with substance abuse issues, mental health disorders, or both. The facility also provides residential care for children and adolescents that can last up to 12 months. If necessary, medically supervised detoxification is available through the short-term inpatient program.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
River Park Hospital adheres to a Stages of Change model, and staff members design individualized treatment plans based on the client’s specific clinical needs.
There are two specialized tracks in the short-term inpatient program, and both typically last seven to 10 days. Through group counseling and evidence-based methods, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), the Traditional Adult Track emphasizes conflict resolution and improving coping skills for those with acute mental health issues. The Chemical Dependency Track helps clients as they stabilize from drug and alcohol addiction. After stabilization, River Park Hospital facilitates aftercare by referring clients to long-term residential programs, sober living communities, and outpatient services.
Components of the long-term residential program for dually diagnosed adolescents (ages 12 to 18) include individual, group, and family therapy, social skills training, 12-step participation, and recreational therapy.
River Park Hospital also has specialized residential programs for adolescent sex offenders and adolescents with severe psychiatric disorders. Along with medication management, these programs provide a range of evidence-based therapies and on-site educational services in a safe, supervised, and structured environment.
River Park Hospital employs a clinical team of psychiatrists, physicians, counselors, recreational therapists, social workers, and mental health clinicians. A state-licensed educator conducts the educational aspects of residential programs.
