Rehabs.com Editorial Review

ABOUT SHAREHOUSE

ShareHouse has treated adults struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders for more than 40 years. The sprawling rehabilitation center in Fargo, N.D., offers residential and outpatient services for adults, including single mothers. Detox services are not available on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon admission, clients undergo an assessment to determine the appropriate level of care. Individuals must be at least 18 years of age and have no history of violence or sexual abuse. The facility offers three levels of residential treatment intensity — high (a minimum of 30 hours of programming per week), medium (15 to 29 hours of programming per week per week), and low (5 to 14 hours of programming per week). These levels are periodically reevaluated during treatment and tailored depending on each client’s needs.

In order to create an individualized experience, clients participate in specialized “Treatment Mall” groups that address specific issues and utilize a variety of therapeutic methods. These groups include gender-specific processing, cognitive restructuring, anger management, co-occurring depression and anxiety management, 12-step introduction, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and recovery life skills.

Outpatient groups are designed to serve as a step-down from residential care and meet two or three times per week. There are also weekly relapse prevention and continuing care groups, along with a 16-hour DUI educational seminar.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team includes registered nurses, licensed and certified addictions counselors, licensed social workers, and a clinical psychologist.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Most residents share bedrooms in fully furnished apartments with living rooms, dining areas, kitchens, laundry facilities, and cable TV. Overall, there is space for 104 residents. Female clients with children are provided with private apartments or studios.

Cell phones and personal computers are prohibited during treatment.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Though Rehabs.com has yet to receive feedback from former clients, some alumni took to secondary sources. On YellowPages.com, where the facility has two reviews that both gave just one out of five stars, Bruce wrote: “I came out using more, than when I went. It's difficult to better yourself in such a toxic environment, full of a racist staff.”[1]

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Loved ones of former clients offered slightly more positive, yet mixed reviews of the facility. Most gave the rehab high ratings for treatment effectiveness and staff support, but noted that holistic offerings and family participation could be improved. L.F. told Rehabs.com: “My husband was ‘forced’ to go to treatment by the court. Until someone wants to quit drinking, even the best of the best isn't going to work.”

WHAT STAFF SAY

A single staffer has provided Rehabs.com with feedback about this facility to date. They gave four- and five-star ratings for most categories surveyed, including cleanliness and connectivity. They indicated approval for fellow employees and the facility as a whole, but complained about the “strictness on participation.”

An additional staff member left a positive review on Glassdoor. The anonymous reviewer awarded five out of five stars and said that they enjoyed the “Team oriented atmosphere and family friendly,” but complained about “Burnout” and “Taking issues home about clients.”[2]

FINANCING

ShareHouse’s website lists pricing details about all its services, including daily residential costs which start at $450 for low intensity, $650 per day for the medium intensity, and $900 per day for high intensity. Outpatient groups and chemical dependency evaluations start at $100 an hour. The facility also accepts state and private insurance.

Official Facility Response

Rehabs.com collects thousands of User Reviews weekly to collect the most up-to-date information possible on treatment facilities across the country. The opinions shared in User Reviews are expressly those of the user, and do not reflect the thoughts, beliefs, or opinions of Rehabs.com. Per our policies, we do not remove User Reviews at the request of a facility.

Treatment facilities can and are encouraged to respond directly to any User Review, positive or negative. In fact, visitors are more likely to favorably consider a facility that actively responds to criticism (and praise!) to one that doesn’t.
