Sunspire Health Hilton Head Philosophy
Sunspire Health Hilton Head's mission is to provide clinical excellence for adults suffering with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. We offer an integrated approach to treatment, utilizing evidence-based clinical interventions, supported by Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). Our abstinence-focused approach combined with holistic therapies provide patients with well-rounded care, support and the tools required to live a full life in long-term recovery.
Areas of Specialization
Upscale Retreat for Recovery
As a renovated boutique hotel, Hilton Head is an upscale treatment facility located on the beautiful island of Hilton Head in South Carolina within walking distance of beaches and parks. This facility is one of the finest in the region and offers patients a retreat from the chaos that often characterizes a period of addiction. The serenity and beauty of Hilton Head Island is ideal for healing body, mind, and spirit.
Patients Get Involved in the Community
At Hilton Head patients will become involved in the community both inside and outside of the facility through recreation therapy, which includes weekends of sober fun activities like going to free concerts in the area or baking cookies for local convalescent homes. Getting patients involved in the community within the facility and outside of the facility offers them a chance to utilize the coping skills they are learning and to apply these to everyday life, setting them up for a successful transition to normal life.
Military Trauma & PTSD Specialists
Hilton Head has staff specialize in dealing with PTSD and military-related addiction issues and co-occurring disorders. They also deal well with sexual trauma and are successful in addressing these underlying mental health issues especially in patients coming from military backgrounds.
Co-Occurring Disorders & Process Addictions
The clinical staff at Hilton Head specialize in treating co-occurring mental health disorders like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and others, as well as treating process addiction interactions like disordered eating and gambling addiction. Treating these co-occurring disorders will address underlying causes of addiction in order to set patients up for successful, long-term recovery.
Detox is often the first level of a treatment plan. This period of no drug use is important for the patient to reach a stable state of mind and body to begin addiction treatment. Our clinical staff will guide and support the patient throughout the entire process.
During residential treatment patients live onsite in housing with access to care from clinical staff 24/7. Patients have a full schedule of individual and group therapies according to their unique treatment plan, preparing them for life in recovery.
To transition from residential treatment to life in recovery, patients go through a progression of care until reaching IOP. Patients will receive ongoing care at the Palm Desert IOP while living in sober housing to adjust to every day life after treatment.
Throughout treatment patients will work with a Discharge Planner and the clinical team to develop a comprehensive aftercare plan that will ensure a successful transition from residential treatment to a life in recovery. All patients who receive care at Sunspire Health will join our nationwide alumni network, giving them access to a support group after treatment.
At every Sunspire Health facility patients will receive treatment that is individualized to their unique needs and diverse lifestyles. Ongoing assessments allow the treatment to adapt and evolve as the patient progresses.
Each patient will have a dedicated Family Therapist who will focus on issues related to the family, including them throughout the treatment process. In addition, each month there is a Family Weekend to educate the patient’s loved ones on the biology of addiction and their role in recovery.
Sunspire Health utilizes evidence-based treatment methods, meaning that the treatment modalities and therapies are based on clinical evidence and proven success in guiding patients to heal and recover. Patients who would benefit from Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) will receive medications that are proven to aid patients in achieving sobriety.
In addition to individual and group therapies that are based in psychotherapy methods like CBT and DBT, patients will learn to apply new coping skills through experiential therapies like meditative hikes, yoga, fitness programs, nutrition education, and recreation activities that show patients how to find hope and how to prosper in recovery.
