Formally known as the Referral Center, the Recovery Center of Oklahoma City, Okla. provides of full continuum of treatment programs for adults struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health concerns. The facility provides a residential program, outpatient programs, and a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program for opioid dependency. If necessary, the Recovery Center also offers both on-site and ambulatory medical detoxification services.

Before beginning treatment, clients participate in an initial assessment to determine the most appropriate level of care, which is based on the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s (ASAM) placement criteria. According to the facility’s website, the Recovery Center is one of the only private facilities in the region that admits clients 24 hours per day. If detoxification is necessary, the facility medically oversees the process to minimize discomfort utilizing medications and other therapeutic approaches. Clients participate in individual, group, and family counseling sessions, as well as attend self-help support meetings, such as 12-Step. Recreational activities and skill-building workshops are also incorporated into treatment. Clients with a co-occurring mental health disorder may also receive ongoing medication management.

Outpatient programs also consist of individual, group, and family counseling sessions, as well as case management and aftercare planning. If necessary, wellness services, such as HIV testing and education is also available. In addition to therapeutic outpatient programs, the Recovery Center also facilitates medication-assisted treatment (Suboxone) for individuals struggling with opioid dependency. Suboxone is an evidence-backed addiction medication proven-effective in controlling opioid cravings and minimizing the discomfort of withdrawal. This facility was staffed by ex-addicts for the most part. These are the folks, I think, that are best suited to help other addicts because they know from whence they have come and they have been successful in getting clean themselves. All I know is, I have been in so many rehabs and programs, in and out of the rooms of AA and NA for so many years and all of it to little or no avail. I go to the "Treatment Center" and it was the beginning of my first recovery period of more than 60 days. I did relapse after 2 weeks but soon after that I found Suboxone and that was when my life changed. Had I not gone to TRC I would never have found the doctor that ultimately prescribed Suboxone to me.
