One program, Family Treatment Services (FTS), specifically addresses the needs of parenting women who are struggling with substance abuse and addiction. Through FTS in Honolulu, women can access long-term residential and outpatient treatment, transitional housing, and mental healthcare for mothers and their children. TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
This facility operates multiple programs located on its main campus, each of which takes a holistic approach to recovery. Women and their children receive psychological, spiritual, and physical support that is trauma-oriented and reflective of the local, multi-ethnic community.
Among the therapeutic modalities practiced at the Salvation Army's rehab center are drug and alcohol evaluation, 12-step participation, parenting classes, assertiveness training, and stress management. Both the mothers and children involved in treatment at FTS receive education and psychiatric and behavioral health care. According to HealthGrove, medication-assisted therapy is also available on the FTS campus.
One FTS program, Women's Way, serves adult and adolescent mothers, providing residential and outpatient addiction treatment. Continued care is available through Ke Ola Pono, a therapeutic living program that focuses on providing transitional support in preparation for independent living. Job preparation classes and employment referrals are offered along with life skills training. A third program, Ka 'Ohu Hou O Manoa, offers transitional housing for homeless women and their children.
In addition to substance abuse treatment for mothers, FTS offers childcare and developmental programs for young children ages two weeks to five years.
