Located in South Charleston, W. Va., Thomas Memorial Hospital’s Behavioral Health Connection treats adults and older adults with mental health and substance abuse issues. Detox is not offered here.

The Behavioral Health Center delivers psychiatric and substance abuse care programs at inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization (PHP) levels. The hospital also accepts referrals 24 hours a day.

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff. On, however, reviewers were split: two gave four- and five out of five-star ratings for the staff’s level of training and experience, whereas a third gave only two stars on the matter.

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings, yet the same three survey respondents only gave three-, four-, and five-star ratings for the facility’s accommodations and for the quality of its meals.

Deborah, the single alum polled by to date reported compassionate and helpful nurses, but was disappointed with the smoking policy and the lack of activities. Despite these complaints, when asked, on a scale from one to five, how strongly she would recommend the center, Deborah gave the highest possible rating.

And on Google, where the hospital and its many departments and services received an average rating of 2.5 out of five stars from more than 40 individuals to date, personal experiences range widely.[1] “Was there for three months, on two different floors. Greatest nurses in the world. The hospital doctors were wonderful. Couldn't of ask for a better team of caregivers,” Google reviewer Cindy wrote.

Commentary received from three loved ones at the time of this writing was mixed. On the positive end, one reviewer credited the hospital’s “well trained” nurses and doctors, another adding, “everyone was extremely nice and helpful.” The latter’s loved one was unsuccessful in treatment, but attributed this cause judiciously: “He chose not to change his life, no fault to the rehab facility.”

The third reviewer, in contrast, felt that there was “no genuine empathy,” and that the facility, despite its easily accessible location, had a “poor concept of “total recovery.”

According to its website, the hospital offers financial assistance to those who qualify.

Frequent safety check, compassion, meds given on time. Locked doors, can't smoke, group therapy, not enough activitès. Doctors knew titration meds, not cold turkey. Nurses willing 2 help u with anything. No resident docs bugging u all day

Good employees, clean building. The treatment was not long enough & in the end did not help my loved one. My loved one was only in for 3 days, everyone was extremely nice and helpful. He chose not to change his life, no fault to the rehab facility

No genuine empathy, just doing a J O B. Nutrition not offered, given. When your money, Insurance is up, u r OUT. No follow up plan, no local resources. Poor concept of total recovery. Keep asking people, drs, friends, anyone about support groups, programs. I'm a medical professional, and it has taken Years, six since my last behaviour med visits to Finally be directed to the Right Place for me...and I've found out the behaviour professionals I've seen knew about this program that is tailor made for me all this time...
