Treatment Alternatives Philosophy
Treatment Alternatives is a professional, substance abuse facility located in Boca Raton, FL. With a psychiatrist, physicians, and other medical professionals on staff, Treatment Alternatives has been helping individuals celebrate recovery for over 25+ years.
Areas of Specialization
Trauma & Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT)
Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT) uses the brain’s innate ability to adapt to change in a healing way, essentially “retraining” the brain to respond differently to familiar memories of trauma or pain.
Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term “medical detoxification” means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.

ABOUT TREATMENT ALTERNATIVES
Based only minutes from the beach in Boca Raton, Fla., Treatment Alternatives provides substance abuse treatment designed to addresses the core, underlying issues of addiction. With more than 25 years of experience, the established facility runs partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs - each of which draw upon an impressive array of evidence-based practices, and holistic and experiential therapies - as well as a Luxury Executive Substance Abuse Program for professionals, business owners, and other high-ranking corporate officers.
Detox and sober living arrangements are also available through Detox Boca, Boca House, and Awakenings for Women, affiliating partners of the facility.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Clients enrolled in the center’s two core programs, PHP and IOP, attend psychotherapeutic programming during the day and 12-step meetings at night, before retiring to their homes. In their stays of 28 days or more, PHP clients receive six hours of treatment daily, seven days a week, under close monitoring by a physician. Those enrolled in the more flexible IOP track attend between three and five days of treatment each week, three hours at a time, day or night.
Both programs involve a variety of evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as the newer rapid eye desensitization and recovery (EDMR), and experiential holistic opportunities such as art therapy, nutritional counseling, and acupuncture. Relapse prevention groups, life skills training, substance abuse education, and gender-specific groups, facilitating conversations on difficult, sensitive issues, also all take place here.
Program graduates have access to aftercare, which may include referrals to outpatient treatment or a gender-specific sober living residence. Every six weeks, the facility hosts a formal, weekend-long family program, with lectures, private family counseling sessions, and more.
Key members of the treatment team include physicians, psychiatrists, master’s level therapists, licensed social workers, and licensed holistic therapists. The facility boasts a staff-to-client ratio of 5:1, and many staff members are also active in recovery.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Clients of the Luxury Executive Substance Abuse Treatment Program stay in a secluded estate in Delray Beach receive transportation to the main facility for treatment. Here, clients are housed in semi-private rooms with double beds and have access to a fully equipped kitchen, living room, and on-site gym.
Amenities include basketball and volleyball courts, a pool with plush outdoor furniture, a flat screen TV, and barbeque grills. The house is only minutes from the beach, where clients can sunbathe, swim, and go boating.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Most former clients reporting to Rehabs.com shared positive personal recovery experiences and outcomes, while some even thanked the facility for helping them become productive members of society once gain. Collectively, a group of nine former clients rated the facility excellently for the staff’s level of training and experience (5.0), the counseling options (4.22), and the holistic, exercise, and leisure opportunities (4.22).
Alumni also found the program “outstanding” and the staff “amazing,” “helpful,” and “caring.” Though she found the south Florida heat somewhat oppressive, alum Mary referred to her “No frills, awesome recovery” as “life changing.”
As expected, alumni brought up a fair share of critiques. An anonymous alum described the facility as “dumpy,” adding: “They seemed to try and diagnose you with all sorts of things to keep you there. Another alum gave only two stars for treatment, telling Rehabs.com that they “would not go back.”
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Much in contrast to alumni, reviews from loved ones contain stories of disappointment. Violeta, the parent of an alum, was highly critical review of Treatment Alternatives, telling Rehabs.com: “They describe their services: supervision for 24 hours, professional advice, therapist, etc, etc, and they did NOTHING!!!… I am so angry and disappointed.” Along with Violeta, several reviewers found the facility deceitful in that they were “all about the money.”
“Demand to interview and choose your therapist,” R.R. warned future clients in her Rehabs.com survey.
WHAT STAFF SAY
Two staff members polled by Rehabs.com shared their highly contrasting perspectives on the facility: while Julian called the therapeutic team here “d[y]namite,” Paul felt that the facility “Doesn’t measure up to what they promise.”
Per the facility’s webpage, private pay and most major insurance plans are accepted here, although Medicare and Medicaid are not.
