Williamson Treatment Center LLC Philosophy
Williamson Treatment Center specializes in providing medically supervised detox services to individuals dependent on heroin and other opiate-based drugs. All too often, chemically dependent individuals want to get clean but fail to do so because they fear the pain of withdrawal. Williamson offers Methadone and Suboxone maintenance to help clients safely and comfortably detox from opiate-based drugs and take the first steps toward a life free from addiction.
Areas of Specialization
Eating Disorder Treatment
Many mental health professionals view eating disorders (including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder, along with other dysfunctional eating patterns) as a food addiction – in that food is used in ways other than as fuel or a source of pleasure. Some, but not all, addiction treatment programs include eating disorder treatment as part of the service menu. Also, an eating disorder may be a dual-diagnosis or a co-occurring disorder with drug or alcohol addiction.
Process Abuse Treatment
Not all addictions involve mood-altering chemicals. The term “process addiction” describes the unhealthy use of behaviors (including eating, gambling, sexual activity, shopping, internet use, etc.) that has spiraled out of control and into the realm of addiction.

ABOUT WILLIAMSON TREATMENT CENTER LLC
Located in West Virginia just over the state line from Kentucky, Williamson Treatment Center is an outpatient methadone clinic that provides treatment to adults struggling with opioid addiction. The clinic offers comprehensive care, including a selection of counseling and education options to support clients’ medication assisted therapy (MAT). Williamson has been in operation for about 10 years and is a member of Southern West Virginia Comprehensive Treatment Centers and CRC Health.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
To enroll in the MAT, clients must have been dependent on heroin or prescription painkillers for at least one year and in withdrawal within the last 24 hours, except in cases of transfer from another detox or treatment facility. During an intake process of around two to four hours, clinic staff members assess how the treatment offered can meet each individual’s needs, conduct a physical exam, help with insurance arrangements, and coordinate with other physicians if the client is pregnant.
Williamson physicians prescribe, monitor, and adjust available medications, including Suboxone, Subutex, Vivitrol, and Methadone and medicating hours are available seven mornings a week. Clients are encouraged to participate in group and individual therapy sessions designed to help them identify and address emotions and circumstances which may contribute to or be affected by addiction. Counseling groups support catharsis experiences and provide models of healthy recovery.
Other learning and therapeutic opportunities at Williamson Treatment Center include family educational sessions and a trauma-informed Seeking Safety program.
The treatment staff consists of licensed counselors, nurses, and medical doctors.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Williamson is a small town in the southwest corner of West Virginia and the treatment center is blocks from the Tug Fork River, which separates it from South Williamson, Kentucky. Southern West Virginia Community Technical College is also located in Williamson.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
While reviews on the treatment center were limited at the time of this writing, those that were accessible were almost universally positive. One client submitted a review to Rehabs.com. They rated the effectiveness of treatment four stars and wrote simply: “Helping heal.”
Likewise, HealthGrove had one review; in it a program participant described the treatment combination of methadone and counseling as “actually working,” after failed attempts at other rehabs. They rated a metric measuring the helpfulness of staff five out of five stars and, in contrast to the Rehabs.com reviewer’s two-star accommodations rating, also gave the treatment center’s environment five stars.
Three Google reviews were split between two ratings of four out of five stars and one of three stars. The only reviewer who included written comments concurred with other alumni’s opinions, writing simply: “Okay place… Very nice staff!” The one available Facebook review had a perfect five-star rating and the reviewer wrote that the staff were wonderful and the treatment saved their life.
According to the facility’s website, self-pay, Medicaid, and private insurance are accepted.
