ABOUT WYOMING RECOVERY

Wyoming Recovery, of Casper, Wyo., offers residential and outpatient care to adults struggling with substance abuse. The facility prides itself on its one-on-one approach and boasts the motto “Help that is right in your hometown.” Detox is available on site. Those with co-occurring mental health conditions are welcome.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Wyoming Recovery offers residential options and outpatient treatment, including partial day or evening programs and an Intensive Outpatient Program. The facility’s website emphasizes their commitment to a “one-on-one approach” to treatment. Care involves 12-step and holistic principles.

In the morning, residential clients gather for a daily “goals group” where they discuss their progress. They will then participate in educational groups with topics including anger management, spirituality, cognitive behavioral therapy, and pain management, among others. At least once per week, clients meet with their primary counselor for an individual session, and with medical staff for a regular checkup. Daily Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings are attended at the 12/24 Club, a nearby support group clubhouse.

Outpatient programs are based on an eight-week model, but are flexible with this timetable. The program meets for three hours, three nights per week, focusing on group therapy and a 12-step system. Family sessions are also involved.

After clients leave treatment, they may attend weekly continuing care sessions for up to a year.

Wyoming Recovery also offers a professional program geared toward medical and business professionals to deal with the specific challenges therein.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The multidisciplinary staff includes a medical director, doctor, registered nurse, case manager, spiritual care facilitator, family counselor, billing specialist, counselors, therapists, and a host of staff members with various specialties, from acupuncture to addictionology.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The 15-bed facility is located in Wyoming’s second largest city, Casper, in the scenic heart of the Rocky Mountains. The open campus is within walking distance of Wyoming Medical Center. According to the facility’s website, meals are provided “through cooperation with Wyoming Medical Center and the 12/24 Club… and complemented by trips to local restaurants.”

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Alumni reviews of Wyoming Recovery are limited, and those available are mixed. In a Rehabs.com survey, alum J.C. wrote: “Basic small rehab, focused on recovery, not yoga or holistic junk. Focus on 12 steps.” He went on to give the facility an overall score of five out of five.

Conversely, one alumn named Cam wrote that while “the doctors and therapists are great” other members of the staff are less effective. He specifically points to the director and a tech that “is afraid to… face clients.”

On Wyoming Recovery’s official Facebook page, which the facility can manage, the center received an average 4.6-star rating based on the reviews of 57 respondents.[1]

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Reviews from loved ones are similarly limited. The sole review came from Jennifer, whose son attended Wyoming Recovery. She writes that the staff were “new to recovery” and claims that her son reported “poor conduct by the staff.”

There's currently no specific information available on residential pricing via the facility's website.

  • Treatment Effectiveness
The doctors and therapists are great. But the director and one tech are in competent. The staff member can not handle a person yelling at a phone. She says she fears for her life. This is a dual diagnosis center and she is to a afraid to face make clients. and the continued care is based off iop is not part of tech staff and they refuse treatment. Poor management but caring doctors and therapists. Not a good choice until management change and tech removed from a nod she can't handle.

A strength of facility was the recognized doctor name behind facility. However, staff members new to recovery. My son (the patient) told me of poor conduct by the staff. I emailed the doctor in charge of the facility and got no response. After a few years and two or three more rehabs my son died from a heroin overdose.
