Addicted to Image: 7 Unbelievable Transformations

Last updated on November 4th, 2019

Undergoing extreme plastic surgery to look like Hollywood celebrities is definitely a disturbing trend. Despite the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on these elective cosmetic procedures, not to mention the pain and agony of the surgeries themselves, plenty of people jump at the chance to look in the mirror and see someone else.

Either consciously or unconsciously, people believe that looking like a celebrity will instantly transform their lives for the better. When one surgery doesn’t bring instant gratification, they push for additional surgeries. This becomes a vicious cycle of cosmetic surgeries, high expectations, and disappointment.

People who are obsessed with transforming into a celebrity often suffer from mental health issues… borderline personality disorder or even psychosis.
People who are obsessed with transforming into a celebrity often suffer from mental health issues. These can vary from low self-esteem to borderline personality disorder or even psychosis. These people are never satisfied with the results of cosmetic surgeries. In fact, their disappointment and unhappiness only makes them feel worse.

Wanting to look beautiful is perfectly fine, so long as it doesn’t turn into an unhealthy obsession. Here’s a look at seven people who became addicted to the concept of transforming into a celebrity – no matter the pain or cost.

Justin Bieber

Toby Sheldon, 33, is a Los Angeles-based songwriter who has proudly spent more than $100,000 for surgeries to look just like 18-year-old Justin Bieber. He’s gotten hair transplants, lip injections, an upper lip lift to mimic Justin’s permanent smirk, a lower lip lift to hide more of the bottom teeth, muscle sculpting to get a six-pack, and liposuction.

Sheldon’s not done yet. Now he’s shopping around to find a cosmetic surgeon who is willing to reduce his forehead and jaw line.

Kim Kardashian

Claire Leeson lives in London and is admittedly obsessed with Kim Kardashian. After watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians in 2009, she began saving money to pay for a transformation. Leeson, 24, has shelled out more than $30,000 in cosmetic procedures so far and is planning for more in the future. As it stands, she’s spent $8,500 for a breast augmentation, more than $3,000 on teeth whitening, more than $1,700 in spray tans, and thousands for a designer wardrobe and shoes to match.

Leeson admits that she decided to undergo the total transformation, in part, because she was bullied and picked on as a child.

Human Barbie

Valeria Lukyanova is known as the Ukrainian-born “Human Barbie.” For several years, she has followed an extreme lifestyle to obtain the unrealistic goal of appearing like a living doll. The 21-year-old Ukrainian model, musician, and astroplanner has reportedly undergone more than 20 cosmetic procedures.

However, Lukyanova said she’s only undergone breast augmentation. Instead, she claims the rest is done with “sport massage, healthy living and professional makeup.”

Brad Pitt x2

Arizona twins Mike and Matt Schlepp were desperate to look like Brad Pitt, believing the resemblance would help them “make it big” in Hollywood. The twins also hoped, if they looked like Pitt, they would meet women. Both twins received rhinoplasty, chin implants, and porcelain veneers. Mike also opted for cheek implants.

Though neither Schlepp brother has been mistaken for Pitt, they both claim to be pleased with the results. “It will change your personality,” Mike said of the procedure. “The way you act and carry yourself forever. I never knew that I could be as happy as I am right now.”

Lindsay Lohan

In one of the strangest moves by a sibling, Lindsay Lohan’s “long lost” half sister, 18-year-old Ashley Horn, underwent five surgical procedures to look more like her famous family member. Horn has so far spent over $25,000 to look like LiLo.

“I’ve gotten rhinoplasty, a bit of refinement underneath my cheeks and jaw line, some fat injected into my chin and some fat injected into my upper cheeks,” Ashley explained to In Touch.

“My goal was to look like Lindsay in her good days, when she was around 18, 19 years old,” she told the magazine.

Ryan Gosling

Aspiring actor Nicholas Ryan, 32, has admittedly spent over $5,000 on Botox, filler injections, and other cosmetic procedures in an attempt to look like Ryan Gosling.

His plastic surgeon had to build a new jaw line and chin for his client, stating that his bone structure was “deficient” when compared to Ryan Gosling’s. Though Ryan claims to be happy with his post-surgical appearance, he also admits he’s planning additional procedures in the near future.

Pamela Anderson

Nineteen-year-old Sha Ross wanted to become a Playboy Playmate, just like her idol Pamela Anderson. To achieve her dream, she underwent liposuction, breast augmentation, and lip implants. After the surgeries, she “loved all the attention,” and soon after she posed for the “college edition” of Playboy.

Fast-forward nine years and Ross is now a 28-year-old mother of two girls. She is also completely embarrassed of the way she looks, especially when she picks her daughters up at school. She admittedly regrets her decision to go under the knife and hopes to one day undergo one last surgery to decrease the size of her breast implants.
