A New Beginning Philosophy
A New Beginning provides women with a nurturing and safe space to begin the recovery process, while also giving them the resources necessary to build a strong foundation for long-term sobriety. Situated in northwest Alabama — amidst a vibrant and active recovery community — the drug and alcohol treatment center has restored the lives of many chemically dependent women, empowering them to break free from the vicious cycle of addiction and become productive (and happy!) members of society.
Areas of Specialization
The term “12 Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Many drug and alcohol treatment centers base their treatment on 12 steps – the first three of which are situational, the next four addressing the practical issues created by the addiction, followed by two steps focused on making amends for hurting others. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction.
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.

The facility fosters “an environment that is loving, nurturing, safe, and conducive to recovery,” according to its mission statement. A New Beginning networks with many community churches to get clients in touch with support groups and financial aid. The program lasts between six months and one year.
Treatment adheres to the 12-Steps, and clients participate in individual and group counseling. According to Rehabs.com reviewers, the program takes a faith-based approach to recovery, and provides a full continuum of treatment. Another core aspect of treatment is the facility’s vocational training, in which participants learn job skills for the work force. Additionally, mothers can take part in 16 weeks of certified parenting classes.
The three staff members profiled on the facility’s website are all certified alcohol and drug counselors and each has personal experience with addiction. Three alumni and one loved one gave the staff’s level of training and experience an average of 4.25 out of five in their Rehabs.com surveys.

This faith based program helped me in making the most important decision of my life.”
