ABOUT A NEW FREEDOM SOBER LIVING

Located in northwest Houston, A New Freedom is a sober living facility designed for men and women seeking continued care after completing treatment at a primary treatment center. It is one of 488 substance abuse centers in the state of Texas.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The goal of A New Freedom is to provide support and supervision for individuals in early recovery while transitioning back into the community. Programming is based and centered around immersion into 12-step fellowship. Residents may attend daily meetings, participate in 12-step workshops, and study fellowship literature.

Other than mandatory 12-step involvement, A New Freedom offers few additional details on its treatment program. However, residents must follow various house rules. Residents must attend nightly house meetings each Monday, Friday, and Sunday, adhere to random drug testing, and maintain sponsorship in the 12 Steps.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

There is currently no information provided by this facility regarding its treatment staff; however, 98 percent of substance abuse facilities in the state of Texas have continuing education requirements for staff. In addition, the single alum surveyed by Rehabs.com to date provided the staff's level of experience and training with a four out of five-star rating.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Per the facility’s webpage, clients are provided with “a clean, home environment.” Regular household amenities include internet, cable, and laundry machines. The sole alum to provide feedback to Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave five stars for the facility's meals and nutrition, four stars for the facility's cleanliness and maintenance, and three stars for the quality of accommodations and amenities overall.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The single alum to have completed a Rehabs.com survey to date left ratings of four and five stars for the facility’s level of family inclusion and its admissions and discharge procedures. “The staff knows how to do things,” the alum wrote. However, they gave a three-star rating for the facility's counseling options and for the likelihood they'd recommend the program to others.

Of the two reviewers on Google to date, one provided a two-star rating and the other provided a one-star rating.[1] A.P. simply commented, "bed bugs." Former client S.H. gave a more thorough account of his experience, expressing gratitude that the facility was ready to open its doors, but also suggesting that drugs were brought into the facility and that the co-ed housing was problematic. "While I’m grateful for this house, I would never recommend it to anyone especially to any women," this alum concluded.

FINANCING

Residents enrolled at A New Freedom pay $150 each week, in addition to a one-time deposit of $150. Both are due at intake. The sole alum polled by Rehabs.com to date awarded five out of five stars for the center's affordability.
