Headquartered in Santa Clarita, Calif., Action Drug Rehabs (also known as Action Family Counseling) provides a continuum of substance abuse treatment services in Ventura, Los Angeles, and Kern Counties. The Bakersfield location offers age-specific intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) for adolescents (ages 12 to 17) and adults struggling with chemical dependency, as well as co-occurring disorders. Residential care is also available for adults.

Before beginning treatment, clients may participate in an initial assessment to ensure IOP offers an appropriate level of care. According to the facility's website, Action Drug Rehabs' IOP typically involves programming that includes three-hour sessions held three days per week. IOP generally lasts three months.

To treat its clientele, IOP sessions typically involve process groups, educational workshops, and structured exercises. Along with an introduction to the 12-step model of recovery, sessions also focus on spirituality, relapse prevention, emotional well-being, and forming healthy relationships. Specialized sessions are also available to address co-occurring mental health disorders.

Along with group sessions, clients also meet with a counselor for family therapy once a week. Aftercare plans are developed prior to completing the program, which may include referrals to 12-step meetings, vocational training and educational opportunities, mental health clinics, and other community-based resources to support ongoing recovery.

The Action Drug Rehabs is accredited by the Joint Commission. According to the facility’s website, services are administered by a team of substance abuse counselors and therapists. Action is a very great place that teaches not just tools for recovery but life tools as well more than feeling love from my family I feel like action is my family and the staff members there have taught me pretty much the things I know such as how to be the young man I am today and for that action is the greatest place that I've been to ever

I would highly recommend Action Family Counseling to anyone with an addiction problem. The staff is absolutely awesome, you get 3 or (as many meals you want a day), a warm bed to sleep in, and just an all around welcoming feeling... Kind of like you've made it home finally, when you walk in that place. I also recommend the after care or intensive outpatient program immediately following residential program. If you need help, go to Action, I have that family to thank for helping me find a new way to live my life.

I LOVE Action Family Bakersfield!!! I have been employed by Action for almost 4 years. All the staff is like a big family, working together to help people and families effected by addiction. The program directors are incredibly intelligent and insightful. The facility managers go above and beyond to keep clients comfortable and important. The chef is a gift to all who consume his food, he caters to each individual's likes and dislikes when shopping and prepares delicious home cooked meals 3 times a day. 5 days a week. The counsellors are amazing and genuinely care about each client's recovery. I know that I would still be clean and sober without Action, 4 1/2 years and counting!!! If I was no longer an employee, I would continue to recommend friends and family members because they treat you as if you are!
