Addiction Recovery Care Association, Inc. Philosophy
Addiction Recovery Care (ARCA) offers clients the opportunity to create a new beginning for themselves. The residential drug and alcohol treatment center knows that the road to recovery isn’t easy, but also knows that anyone can recover from addiction if they have the desire and the proper tools. ARCA combines innovative treatment methods with time-tested 12-Step principles to provide effective care that’s focused on self-discovery, responsibility, personal growth and accountability.
Areas of Specialization
Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term “medical detoxification” means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.
Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.

ABOUT ADDICTION RECOVERY CARE ASSOCIATION, INC.
Addiction Recovery Care Association Inc. (ARCA), located in Winston-Salem, N.C., offers residential treatment and medically-managed detox to adults seeking treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. ARCA is one of North Carolina’s 184 private, non-profit agencies and has been in existence for over 40 years.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
ARCA accepts adults that have been diagnosed with substance abuse disorder and co-occurring disorders. However, there are specific conditions that disqualify clients from participating. Also, the facility only accepts willing clients, and no forced treatment referrals are accepted. To enter the program, clients apply in person with an admissions representative who will coordinate the process.

This makes ARCA one of North Carolina’s 25 short-term treatment programs.
Clients receiving detox services receive medication management and administration as well as 24-hour observation. The detox program is available for clients with dependencies on alcohol, benzodiazepines, and other sedatives, heroin, and opioids.
In the residential treatment program, clients receive individual and group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and music therapy. The facility routinely hosts community guest lectures in order to provide educational and motivational help to clients.
Families are included in the treatment program through weekly multi-family therapy and family education groups. The facility also has bilingual counselors available for Spanish-speaking clients and offers post-discharge resources such as physicals and aftercare referrals for clients who successfully complete the program.
The treatment team at ARCA includes an executive director, a clinical supervisor, a facilities manager, a finance administrator, physicians, nurses, and other support staff. The staff to client ratio is 3:1. The facility is one of the 207 facilities (43.9 percent) in the state that are accredited by CARF.
