With locations in both Wellsville and Cuba, New York, Allegany Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (ACASA) provides outpatient treatment to adults struggling with substance use disorder. It's also one 198 New York facilities to offer treatment for gambling addiction, which make up about 22 percent of all facilities in the state. In addition, ACASA runs a sober living house and a supportive living facility for men.


Clients undergo assessments and evaluations, including medical, in order to develop a treatment plan that encompasses the person as a whole. Outpatient services include interventions, individual and group therapy, child and family counseling, vocational and education support, and specialized programs for clients with co-occurring disorders.

ACASA also provides outreach programs for prevention in schools, and facilitates an impaired driver program to teach convicted offenders about the danger of driving while under the influence of a chemical substance.

The sober living facility for men is called the Trapping Brook House. Residents stay at the facility while attending outpatient treatment. Once this level of care is complete, clients can move on to ACASA's less-restrictive supportive living program.


Although there is no information available regarding staff credentials, 99 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities in New York have continuing education requirements for staff. The one loved one surveyed by to date gave ACASA four out of five stars for its staff's level of training and experience.


Trapping Brook House is a 17-bed facility and the supportive living program houses six to 13 clients at a time. While the one loved one polled by at the time of this writing gave ACASA just two out of five stars for its accommodations and amenities, they awarded the facility five out of five stars for its cleanliness.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY has not yet received any reviews from ACASA's alumni, however the facility earned one two-star rating from a former client on[1] The anonymous reviewer noted that they liked their counselor, but complained that outpatient appointments were very difficult to set up.

On Google, the Trapping Brook House received a highly positive five-star review from an anonymous respondent who wrote: "This place is amaxing for people who are serious about their recovery, very clean modern place."[2]


At the time of this writing, the sole loved one surveyed by gave ACASA mostly positive feedback. They awarded the facility four or five out of five stars for its family participation, its administrative and discharge procedures, its holistic offerings, and its treatment of co-occurring disorders. When asked, on a scale from one to five, if they would recommend the facility, they gave a rating of four. "The facility was helpful and worthwhile," the anonymous reviewer wrote.


While there is currently no information provided on the facility's website regarding its costs, the one loved one polled by to date gave ACASA five out of five stars for its affordability.
