Amethyst Recovery Center Philosophy
With over 75 years of combined experience, our staff is uniquely qualified to guide you through the recovery journey. Instead of transitioning from one treatment facility to a separate intensive outpatient treatment center, clients will stay with Amethyst for the duration of their treatment.
From the first day of treatment, clients will form bonds with staff and with each other that will last through sober living and beyond. This continuity of care allows for a deeper level of trust and understanding between clients and their therapy team.
Areas of Specialization
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.
Trauma & Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT)
Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT) uses the brain’s innate ability to adapt to change in a healing way, essentially “retraining” the brain to respond differently to familiar memories of trauma or pain.
Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.
Amethyst Recovery Center has changed my life. I never thought I would truly be looking forward to being involved in long term forever recovery or be able to "get it". Something was always missing. While I was in Amethyst I was able to find what I was missing when I participated in the Alpha Series Program, which is a spiritual not religious based class taught by awesome real people who really love and care about our recovery. My whole perspective on recovery is now so positive it is amazing!!! The entire staff at Amethyst are very accommodating and they genuinely care about every clients well being and recovery they bend over backwards to try to save lives. Thank you for saving my life everyone at Amethyst clients included!
This place is amazing.... The staff taught me so much and really helped me gain a life worth living.... Without out them I can honestly say I probably wouldn't be sober today! So grateful to all that they offer because it's more than just getting away you get to work through the hard things you've been through and have the hand to lead you through the darker times into a beautiful outcome
So grateful for the people at Amethyst. Grateful for their compassion for Moms, their professionalism, and their sincere willingness to serve in the trenches of addiction. Most grateful for the genuine love they have for the clients that come through their doors. Few people in this world will journey with those who are bound by addiction. Thank God they are doing their part to help set our sons and daughters free.

In addition to their residential program, the facility offers general outpatient programs and is one of 315 (44 percent) of Florida treatment facilities to offer intensive outpatient (IOP).
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Amethyst Recovery Center offers a broad range of treatment options, including both traditional and holistic programs. According to their website, treatment typically starts with 24-hour-monitored detox then transitions to residential care, followed by day/night treatment, and finishes with IOP. The facility also employs medical detox treatment which relies on Subutex (buprenorphine), a treatment used by only 3.1 percent of facilities in Florida. Additionally, Amethyst Recovery Center also offers Vivitrol to supplement the use of Subutex.
Clients in the day/night care program receive at least 40 hours of individual and group therapy per week, which includes modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-focused eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).
The IOP phase involves at least nine hours per week of individual and group therapy, along with the option to stay in an Amethyst sober living facility during treatment. The facility also offers a general outpatient program, which includes an hour and a half of individual therapy per week, plus referrals to local resources that can help with any medical, mental health, financial, or other problems clients face as they continue their recovery.
The treatment team includes two board-certified psychiatrists (one of which is also the facility’s medical director), a registered nurse, a licensed mental health counselor, as well as a registered mental health counselor intern.
Amethyst Recovery Center is a member of the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) and is one of 192 treatment centers (26.8 percent) in Florida to be accredited by the Joint Commission (JCAHO). The facility also holds the Gold Seal accreditation.
