The adult inpatient program addresses substance abuse as well as co-occurring mental health disorders and includes medically-supervised detox, as needed, 24-hour medical/nursing care, group counseling, 12-step groups, spirituality groups, addiction and recovery education, nutrition and family education sessions, and aftercare planning.

IOP clients attend three-hour sessions either three or four evenings per week; there is no set limit on program length, which varies with clients’ needs. Clients in recovery may attend continuing care, an outpatient offering that occurs one evening per week for 90 minutes. In addition, Pathways operates an OP one evening per week for 90 minutes for 12 weeks or when participants achieve their treatment goals.
Pathways’ DWI/DUI programs help offenders recognize and prevent their drinking and driving tendencies. All offerings meet the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration’s DWI/DUI standards. Options include a six-week education program that meets once a week for a total of 12-hours and a 26-week treatment program for clients with a high-risk profile. Within the state, Pathways is among 44.4 percent of substance abuse treatment facilities with specially tailored programs for DUI/DWI clients.
For teens, ages 13 to 17, Pathways offers an IOP three evenings per week with three-hour group sessions. Clients in recovery may attend the continuing care outpatient program, which meets one evening per week for 90 minutes. There also is an at-risk OP group that runs five weeks, which teens attend one evening a week for one hour.
Pathways operates an adventure therapy program featuring a ropes course. It aims to build self-awareness, confidence, and trust. The on-campus ropes course is open to businesses, agencies, and organizations.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY
At the time of this writing, six former clients of Pathways Anne Arundel Medical Center submitted favorable feedback to Rehabs.com. MRD wrote: “MY DOC was Crystal Meth. While the facility, by their own admision did not have a lot experience with CM addiction, they were willing to find out more about it during my stay so that they could assist me better - they did a great job.” An anonymous reviewer echoed that outcome: “Wonderful rehab, treats the entire person, physically, mentally, spiritually. Was never able to maintain longterm sobriety until Pathways.”
On secondary sites, the facility received conflicting coverage to date: 2.8 out of five stars based on 32 reviews on Google and 2.8 stars from 17 reviews on CiteHealth. Reviewers were split in their views – some incurred life-changing success, while others did not. Anna on Google wrote a representative five-star review: “Best rehab I've ever been to. Great staff, great community of us patients…Anyone who says otherwise was not serious about getting clean.”
Others disagreed and complained about lack of security, improper medication, and being overcharged, such as a one-star anonymous reviewer on CiteHealth, who wrote: “I received an extremely large bill after I was discharged. The bill was padded and altered to say the least.”
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
The five loved ones who reviewed Anne Arundel Medical Center’s Pathways program for Rehabs.com to date provided mostly favorable impressions: four positive and one negative. Most reported they would recommend the program to others. One anonymous reviewer cited “concurrent treatment of mental health needs when seen for substance abuse” as a strength.
In a representative review, one loved one wrote: “Staff was kind, accommodating and there are several treatment options. This facility is recommended.” That said, this reviewer and others considered the program expensive. The negative reviewer despaired about their son being discharged after being in treatment for a short time, which resulted in him relapsing within a few days. “I had spent months to persuade him to go to rehab and \"the medical team\" decides after 18 days that a hardcore addict is ready to go. It was $7000.00 down the drain,” the loved one wrote.
According to its website, Pathways is in-network or a preferred provider for most insurance providers. The center advises clients to get preauthorization from their insurance carrier in order to be admitted into treatment.
