Applewood Centers Inc. is a nonprofit agency that provides mental health, and social services to children, teens, and families in multiple facilities in Ohio. Located in Cleveland, Ohio, The Jones Campus treats adolescents struggling with co-occuring disorders, substance abuse problems, as well as other behavioral and mental health concerns, making it one of the just 196 (28.9 percent) centers in the state to treat adolescents. It is also one of Ohio's 71 (17.4 percent) non-hospital facilities offering long-term residential services.


According to the center’s website, the Jones Campus offers a variety of outpatient and counseling services, such as intensive home-based treatment, community psychiatric supportive treatment, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, early childhood mental health, and family preservation.

The center also provides residential services for 11- to 18-year-old boys and girls. The Apple Blossom residential program is for girls and provides intensive therapeutic services. It’s designed for girls who have severe emotional and behavioral problems. The program is designed for the clients to build trusting relationships, respect for themselves and others, promote personal growth, and responsibility for the future.

According to the center’s website, Applewood Centers also operates the Orchard, which is a residential program for boys. It provides gender-specific programing for boys with a history of trauma, attachment issues, and behavioral or emotional outbursts.


The center's website notes the treatment team includes licensed social workers, counselors, therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists. The center has multiple staff members who are fluent in Spanish, and are able to provide bilingual counseling services. The single loved one surveyed by at the time of this writing gave four out of five stars for the staff's level of training and experience.


There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings. However, the sole loved one questioned by at the time of this writing gave four out of five stars for accommodations & amenities as well as for cleanliness & maintenance.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY has yet to receive reviews from this facility’s former clients as of this writing; however, four Google users produced an average rating of 3.8 out of five stars to date.[1] Two five-star ratings and one four-star rating have no written commentary. L.V., the only individual to provide feedback, left one star and remarked, "Hate that place."


The sole loved one who was surveyed by at the time of this writing gave an overall positive review. This individual awarded the center five out of five stars when asked if they would recommend the facility to others, and four stars for treatment effectiveness and whether or not the programming was worth the cost. The loved one also gave the facility high marks for family participation. “Very helpful - attempts to get family involved but often the client is alone so the workers become their support system,” they wrote.


Though had not received staff feedback at the time of this writing, 27 current and former employees of Applewood Centers, as a whole, left a 3.5 out of five-star average rating on Indeed.[2] The single staffer who identified with the Jones Campus, in particular, provided three out of five stars overall, but noted that there was a problem with understaffing.


According to Applewood Centers’ website, the center accepts Medicaid, as well as most insurances. The sole survey respondent to date provided a four-star rating for the center's affordability.
