ABOUT ARC MANOR

Located in Kittanning, Penn., just 44 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, ARC Manor is a nonprofit organization that runs substance abuse prevention and treatment programs at the residential and three levels of outpatient care for individuals and their families.

One of just 284 (56.6 percent) of nonprofits in the state, ARC Manor primarily works with adults, though it runs an outpatient group for teens.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment services at ARC Manor, according to the organization’s website, are designed for “anyone having a problem with alcohol or other drugs, or who is affected by substance abuse.” Clients may be self-referred or referred by professionals. All treatment programs include care for co-occurring disorders.

At the highest level of care available, residential programming consists of one-on-one and group therapy, 12-step meetings, and life skills and relapse prevention training. Residents also receive medical care and nutritional guidance. Length of stay varies.

ARC Manor also has outpatient options, including one of just 76 (15.1 percent) of partial hospitalization (PHP) programs and one of 256 (51 percent) of intensive outpatient (IOP) programs statewide. The PHP runs five days per week and offers individual counseling, process groups, and psychoeducational activities. The IOP meets three times weekly for group counseling and education.

In addition to individual and group counseling, ARC Manor runs specialized outpatient groups for women, teens, offenders, and those struggling with relapse.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

A recent annual report published on the organization’s website indicates that the treatment team includes registered nurses, social workers, master’s level clinicians, and certified addiction counselors.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings; however, the four individuals surveyed by Rehabs.com to date collectively awarded the center 3.5 and 3.75 out of five stars, respectively, for its accommodations and meals.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Courtney, one of the two alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date, gave the facility just two out five stars for treatment effectiveness, though noted the small size of groups and the amount of personalized attention she received. “They only have nine people at Max so there is more getting to no you and what your about,” she wrote. The other alum described the center as “affordable and effective” and gave credit for helping set them “on the right path.”

Eight Google reviewers shared a vastly different perspective, as reflected by a collective average rating of two out of five stars. One reviewer felt the facility prioritized money over care, while Savannah told of unclear policies and an uncaring staff. “Got booted for not going to something I was told not to worry about going too… maybe 2 people who actually even care,” Savannah wrote.[1]

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The two loved ones who've completed Rehabs.com surveys to date commended the “caring and “knowledgeable” staff and gave the center four out of five stars for its counseling options, family participation, and treatment for co-occurring disorders. “It is a relaxed and comfortable facility,” they told Rehabs.com.

Despite their positive feedback, both reviewers had criticisms. One felt the facility was “too lenient,” while the other suggested that the facility “Bring more religion into the equation of recovery...” Google reviewers pointed out a communication gap between staff and prospective clients, as well as inadequate treatment. “Once you get there you better be ready for a week of hell. Nobody helps you,” another wrote.

FINANCING

As an organization, ARC Manor treats all individuals, regardless of their ability to pay.

They only have nine people at Max so there is more getting to no you and what your about. There was a lot of down time. To sit and think about what got you put there in the first place then everyone story telling during down time just made you want to go out and uae. Its a good place to go if you are local they take you out of the building for meetings and if you are not established on the street they have a really good person that helps you get what you need housing, jobs etc. They where adding on a detox part when I was there.

Good counselors, allow pastors to come and do Bible study's with those interested, mostly a caring staff Turn over rate is high for the Carecenter. Bring more religion into the equation of recovery along with all the practicals the are giving.
