Areas of Specialization
Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term “medical detoxification” means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.
Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.

ABOUT ARETE DETOX
Located midway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale in sunny South Florida, Arete Detox provides medically monitored residential detox services for individuals struggling with chemical dependency and dual diagnosis.
Arete is owned by Delphi Behavioral Health Group, which operates seven treatment facilities around the country.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
A stay at Arete typically lasts between five and seven days, during which time clients receive 24/7 medical support and medications prescribed both to ease the symptoms of withdrawal and to treat any medical conditions diagnosed by the staff doctor. Medical care is supplemented by individual and group counseling and recreational activities.
In addition to medical care and counseling, Arete provides each client with a case manager, who helps them to assemble a solid aftercare plan and helps with any legal, housing, employment, or other matters that will need to be resolved in order for them to lead a productive, independent life.
Arete employs a medical doctor, a registered nurse, a licensed mental health counselor, and a master's-level counselor.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Decorated in a homey if dated style, the facility features shared bedrooms, a yard with a basketball court, and a full kitchen, where an executive chef prepares meals. According to a report in a behavioral healthcare trade publication, the facility has 19 beds.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Of the four reviews submitted to Rehabs.com to date, two were negative, one was mixed, and one was positive. Three of the four reviewers cited inadequate help from the center's care coordinators: William wrote that the staff would not help him to transfer to another facility, and Steve wrote: "Care corodanaters are overloaded and dont have time for clients. Also these people are sneaky and tell half truths." One reviewer, C.B., also criticized the center's amenities, writing: "Don't believe any of the b.s., there are NO LUXURIOUS ACCOMMODATIONS. Nothing to do but eat and smoke."
However, the reviewers repeatedly praised the center's technicians, and J.B. wrote. "Therapists were the best." And despite some criticism, Steve wrote: "In the end they did a good job getting me sober and tolerating my grouchy butt!"
Secondary sites yielded mostly positive coverage at the time of this writing: a one-star rating and four five-star ratings, spread between Yelp and Facebook (where the facility can manage its own page). "Horrible... Advertised as relaxing and luxury. Couldn't be farther from the truth," D.T. wrote in the one-star rating on Yelp (which is duplicated on Facebook, giving the appearance of two one-star ratings). D.T. also complained about the center's policies for early discharge, which he alleged left clients stranded with no transportation or other provisions. None of the five-star reviewers had left any accompanying commentary at the time of this writing.
Arete accepts PPO insurance policies on an out-of-network basis. The cost of treatment is not available at the time of this writing.
