ABOUT ARMY SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM (ASAP) - FORT DRUM

Headquartered in New York’s North Country at Fort Drum, Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) provides treatment for current and former military personnel and their families. Through ASAP, individuals who are struggling with drug and alcohol addiction may access outpatient services specifically designed for the military community.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to the facility’s website, ASAP’s goal is to “strengthen the overall fitness and effectiveness of the Army’s total workforce and to enhance the combat readiness of its Soldiers.” The center is open Monday through Friday and offers programming that includes prevention, risk reduction, and substance abuse counseling. Drug testing and suicide prevention services are also offered through the same facility.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the center’s website, the treatment team includes a clinical director, an alcohol and drug control officer, a prevention branch chief, an employee assistance program coordinator, a drug testing officer, and counselors.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

When asked how likely they were to recommend the facility to others, the one alum polled by Rehabs.com to date provided a rating of three out of five stars.

They gave four out of five star ratings to the staff’s level of training and expertise and the program’s counseling options. “They are very patient oriented and helpful in reaching out to other resources when they can't accommodate,” they wrote.

However, this same reviewer provided two star ratings for the program’s treatment effectiveness and its treatment for co-occurring disorders. “Too focused on drug and alcohol, with minimal insight abilities of other addictions,” they wrote.
