ABOUT ARROWHEAD BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
Arrowhead Behavioral Health is a private psychiatric hospital located in Maumee, Ohio. In addition to providing psychiatric services, the center offers a full continuum of care for adults struggling with substance misuse and co-occurring disorders.
Treatment options include detox, inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Additionally, the facility runs a specialized program for impaired professionals, including physicians, pharmacists, and dentists. According to a 2017 SAMHSA survey, 57.2 percent of rehabs in Ohio offered an IOP, while offered 13.7 percent offered a PHP.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Before beginning treatment, clients undergo a mental and behavioral health assessment designed to help staff determine the most appropriate level of care. Individuals struggling with opiate or alcohol dependency typically start in the center’s detox program before moving on to inpatient or outpatient treatment.
Duration of treatment varies, but most clients enrolled in the inpatient program remain for an average of 28 days. Clients adhere to a curriculum modeled after the 12-Steps, as well as participate in group therapy, individual therapy, ongoing individual assessments, psychoeducational groups, toxicology screenings, and MAT, as applicable. In Ohio, the facility is one of 155 programs (37.9 percent) of all rehabs in the state to use Suboxone.
Outpatient treatment, which includes a similar mix of modalities, is available at both IOP and PHP levels. Clients enrolled in the IOP program attend three-hour sessions, three days a week for six weeks, and the PHP program runs Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Clients who complete treatment are invited to attend weekly alumni meetings and other social activities scheduled throughout the year, including an annual summer picnic.
Arrowhead Behavioral Health’s treatment team includes physicians, psychiatrists, master’s-level therapists, nurses, social workers, and addiction counselors. The facility is among the 24.7 percent of rehabs in Ohio certified by the Joint Commission.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
According to the center’s website, Arrowhead Behavioral Health can house up to 48 individuals at a time. Clients share simple, dormitory-style bedrooms and have access to an on-site gymnasium and a laundry facility. Visitors over the age of 18 are allowed twice a week, and smoking is permitted.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The six alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date gave mostly positive reviews, and indicated that they would recommend the facility to others. Respondents were particularly impressed with the staff’s level of training and experience and the cleanliness of the facilities. “The employee's there are very understanding, and caring people,” P.R. wrote in a representative review.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
The one loved one polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing gave a negative review and noted that they would not recommend Arrowhead Behavioral Health to others. The reviewer, D.A.M., gave the center below-average ratings in every evaluated category, including the program’s counseling options, family involvement, and the facility’s accommodations. “The system is broken, too hard to get help and continue treatment!” D.A.M. wrote.
The majority of friends and family members who submitted reviews on Google and CiteHealh were also disappointed with the care their loved ones received. Multiple reviewers highlighted a lack of communication between staff and family members, as well as less-than-comprehensive treatment.
