Aspire Recovery Philosophy
At Aspire Recovery, we understand that addiction is complex – as complex as the people and families it affects. Physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions all play a role in substance abuse disorders. That’s why Aspire Recovery doesn't just treat drug and alcohol problems, but every related issue that patients and their families face.
Areas of Specialization
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a highly specific, research-validated form of therapy that can help people overcome traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. With EMDR, a trained practitioner uses bilateral stimulation, eye movement and touch to stimulate parts of the brain as a patient recounts certain experiences and memories as a way to more thoroughly process uncomfortable, painful feelings.
Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.
Trauma & Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT)
Associative Awareness Therapy (AAT) uses the brain’s innate ability to adapt to change in a healing way, essentially “retraining” the brain to respond differently to familiar memories of trauma or pain.
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.

ABOUT ASPIRE RECOVERY INC.
Situated in the laid-back beach community of Huntington Beach, Calif., Aspire Recovery is a luxury, oceanfront treatment facility that provides residential programming and aftercare for adults struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders. Aspire Recovery’s residential program last 30, 60, or 90 days through a progressive, tiered process.
Along with evidence-based programming, case management, and aftercare support, the facility emphasizes off-site activities and community involvement as important elements to promote long-term lifestyle changes. If necessary, the facility does provide medication-assisted treatment to alleviate the discomfort of initial withdrawal.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients participate in an initial assessment within 24 to 72 hours to help clinicians determine an individualized treatment plan. Aspire Recovery combines evidence-based treatment modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), with a range of therapeutic and recreational activities to promote long-term sobriety.
During Level I of treatment, clients participate in a structured schedule of individual, group, and family counseling sessions, and residents are introduced to the principles and practices of 12-Step. In addition, Aspire Recovery may utilize eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) sessions to address and treat issues of trauma, and dual diagnosed individuals may also receive ongoing medication management.
Once a client is stable in early recovery, they transition into Level II of treatment, which allows clients to focus on educational, employment, or volunteer opportunities. To assist clientele in pursuing these opportunities, clinicians aid residents with resume creation, applying for and enrolling in school, transportation to and from class, obtaining a job, and budgeting.
If applicable, clients then transition into Level III of treatment after approximately 90 days of residential treatment. During Level III, clients are expected to be employed, enrolled in school, or active within the community. Clients continue to see a primary counselor on an outpatient basis, attend aftercare groups, and continue to attend 12-step meetings. Aftercare classes focus on improving relapse prevention and coping strategy techniques.
Along with its evidence-based treatments, Aspire Recovery emphasizes activities to promote physical and mental health. Clients participate in seaside Yoga, guided meditation, spirituality classes, art therapy, and five weekly exercise sessions. According to the facility’s website, Aspire Recovery also facilitates off-site activities, including nature walks and beach trips. While the typical length of residential treatment lasts between 30 and 90 days, clients may extent residential treatment for up to six months.
Under the supervision of a program director, Aspire Recovery employs a team of licensed substance abuse counselors, case managers, and a support staff. Consulting psychiatrists and physicians experienced in addiction medicine may also provide psychiatric evaluations and administer medications.
