Assisted Recovery Center of Georgia, Inc., located in Savannah, Ga., offers short-term inpatient as well as outpatient, medically-assisted treatment for struggling with alcohol or opioid drug use disorder. Assisted Recovery Center was started in 1999 as an alternative to traditional treatment methods such as 12-step programs. The facility’s website boasts a success rate of five to six times higher than traditional programs.

To be admitted, clients should contact the facility directly using their 24/7 help-line to determine the best course of treatment and schedule an intake appointment. The length of stay at the inpatient detox facility varies for each individual but is typically short-term and may only last seven days for some clients. Length of treatment in the outpatient programs is typically three months although there is a two week accelerated day program available.

The facility’s treatment program recognizes addiction as a physiological brain-based disorder and takes a medical-approach to treatment, utilizing medications to help decrease cravings for clients as they detox and progress through treatment.

During inpatient medical detox, clients are cared for by specially trained nurses with physician supervision and they stay in private suites during their treatment. Clients must be medically cleared before starting treatment including no history of seizures, not currently pregnant, not have acute hepatitis, uncontrolled hypertension, or any other uncontrolled mental or physical illness. Throughout inpatient treatment, clients receive a physical assessment, an individualized treatment plan, medication therapy, and nursing services at least three times per day.

The outpatient therapy program at Assisted Recovery Center includes group therapy sessions at least twice per week. The group sessions implement cognitive-behavioral therapy and use cognitive restructuring methods. Client will also have an opportunity to complete individual therapy with a licensed therapist for a total of ten hours as well as optional family therapy if it would be beneficial. Clients in outpatient therapy will be assessed by a physician or nurse practitioner and receive medication treatment as needed.

The IOP at Assisted Recovery Center is a more intensive outpatient option providing group therapy sessions at least twice per week or more, lasting 1.5 hours each and are led by a licensed therapist. Clients may also complete individual or family counseling sessions for up to 20 hours total and receive medication as needed.

The Day Treatment Accelerated Program condenses the same material from the three month long outpatient program into two weeks. Clients meets daily for a minimum of three hours per day in the evening and is led by a licensed therapist and support from registered nurses. Clients in this program meet for individual counseling sessions for 5 hours total per week and may also receive medication as needed.

Specialized treatment programs are available for professionals or executives who want more flexibility and confidentiality during treatment, an alcohol harm reduction program, and an opioid specific treatment program. The opioid treatment program lasts from three to 13 weeks depending on the individual’s needs and clients receive methadone, Suboxone, Naltrexone, or Subutex during the program to help relieve cravings and decrease relapse risk.

The treatment team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and licensed therapists.

There is currently limited information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements at the inpatient detox facility. Assisted Recovery Center does note on their website that detox is completed in a private suite.

On the facility’s Google page, there is an overall rating of five out of five stars based on four total reviews.[1] Three out of the four reviewers left comments that were all very positive; none of the reviewers appeared to be alumni of the treatment program at Assisted Recovery Center. A friend of a former client, M.M., felt that the facility helped the client to stop drinking. They gave five stars and wrote, “A family friend I know went here. This place helped him stop drinking and he's getting his life back in order now from what I hear.”

Another reviewer, B.V., agreed that the treatment program was effective and also gave five stars. B.V. did not identify his relationship with the facility but wrote, “They use the latest and most effective tools that medical science has to offer in treating addiction to alcohol or opiate drugs, and they're totally confidential, with a private, painless detox and one-on-one counseling.”

The cost of treatment at the facility is not published. The facility does accept insurance and offers a sliding scale fee along with other payment and financing options. When clients pre-pay for their services by cash, check, or credit card, a discount is applied. Staff at Assisted Recovery Center will assist clients in verifying their insurance coverage and getting the services pre-certified as needed before treatment begins.
