Our drug and alcohol rehab programs provides an alternative to traditional inpatient / residential treatment or as a step down from a higher level of care. We emphasize and try to instill the importance of consistency, accountability, and responsibility along with the vital importance of a 12 step program in everybody’s daily lives to achieve the goal of permanent sobriety.
After going through his own difficulties battling the disease of addiction Bob Reynolds, Banyan's Director, spent many years working in the recovery community trying to give back by helping other suffering addicts and alcoholics. It was Bob’s vision to start an honest, clean and supportive community for people to recover in. This vision became a reality when he teamed up with a young investor who also had a passion for helping young adults gain the tools they need in order to succeed in life.
Areas of Specialization
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
The focus of cognitive behavioral therapy (also called CBT) is helping people to understand the thoughts and emotions that underlie their addiction with the goal of learning new, healthier and more productive ways to understand and express themselves.
Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.
Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
Patients who undergo intensive outpatient treatment continue to live at home and sometimes go to school or work while participating in a highly structured treatment protocol that is focused on ending substance abuse. Programs vary in terms of how much treatment patients receive, how often and for how long. Some facilities design individualized intensive outpatient treatment programs.
Though not all rehab facilities offer “medical detoxification,” all people with an addiction to drugs or alcohol will experience intense physical and emotional changes and discomfort as their bodies react to withdrawal of the addictive substance. Many people use the term “detox” to refer to the period of time (ranging from a few days to a week) when the body is reacting to an addict’s decision to stop using.

ABOUT BANYAN TREATMENT CENTER — NAPERVILLE, IL
Banyan Treatment Center of Naperville, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, is one of five treatment centers operated by the treatment provider. The Naperville facility offers outpatient-based treatment for individuals struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health concerns. The facility offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and traditional outpatient program. The facility does not provide detoxification services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients participate in an initial substance abuse assessment to determine an appropriate level of care. Individuals who require a more intensive level of care to obtain and sustain sobriety may be referred to the Banyan Treatment Center’s PHP. Offering a full week of programming and serving as an alternative to inpatient care, PHP involves at least 28 hours of weekly treatment. Banyan Treatment Center utilizes a range of evidence-based treatment methods to treat its clientele.
During PHP, clients participate in individual, group, and family therapy, as well as specialized counseling sessions that address the unique needs of the individual, such as co-occurring disorders. Utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques in counseling sessions, clinicians help clients to identify and modify dysfunctional thinking and behavioral patterns. Clients struggling with trauma-related concerns may also participate in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) to lessen the emotional intensity associated with specific events and situations.
Banyan Treatment Center of Naperville also integrates the 12-step model of recovery into programming. Clients may be required to attend 12-step meetings within the community, study fellowship literature, and participate in “step-work” workshops to help guide clients through the process. Clients also attend educational classes on substance abuse and participate in art therapy sessions.
Once a client completes PHP, clinicians may encourage clients to transition into a less-intensive program to receive a comprehensive continuum of care. Offering similar programming as PHP, Banyan Treatment Center’s IOP involves a minimum of nine hours of weekly programming, while the traditional outpatient program entails attending at least one 90-minute group per week. To accommodate client schedules, outpatient sessions are held in the mornings and evenings.
Upon completing treatment, all clients are welcome to join the alumni program, which offers clients a supportive community after program completion.
