ABOUT BAYLOR SCOTT & WHITE HEALTH – SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES

Located inside the Scott & White Mental Health Center in Temple, Texas, Baylor Scott & White Health's Alcohol and Drug Dependence Treatment Program (ADDTP) offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adults struggling with chemical dependency. The facility also offers a specialized outpatient program for seniors ages 65 and older.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The ADDTP at Baylor Scott & White Health is both holistic and based on the principles and practices of 12-Step. The IOP lasts five weeks and is held in the evenings, Monday through Thursday. During IOP, clients participate in group therapy on a range of topics, such as life skills and relapse prevention, as well as attend one-on-one counseling sessions, participate in therapeutic recreation, and attend educational programs.

Psychiatric services are available as needed through the health Center's psychiatry department. Clients can enroll in those services with an evaluation by the specialist to determine if each service applies. ADDTP is also part of the 85.1% of U.S. facilities that provides counseling options to family members of clients. In addition, the facility offers weekly family education courses to loved ones.

Clients who successfully complete the IOP typically move on to the Continuing Care Group, an aftercare program that consists of weekly group therapy sessions. Designed for two years of follow-up, the Continuing Care Group is meant to help clients maintain their recovery as they become more involved in their lives and real-world activities.

The ADDTP Outpatient Senior Care Program is less intensive than the IOP and includes scheduled individual therapy sessions and/or addiction education. Only 19% of U.S. treatment facilities offer specialized treatment for seniors.

ADDTP's treatment team includes a medical director and a nurse practitioner, along with licensed chemical dependency counselors. Caring nurses and staff, good food, lots of different types of therapy available. No smoking, no use of internet or cell phones. The nurses are a lot friendlier than the doctors there.

Good programs for my mental health issues. I was made comfortable and was not forced to take part in any programs I didnt feel comfortable with.
