ABOUT BOWEN CENTER - WARSAW
Bowen Center is one of the 179 (58.7 percent) of private, nonprofit treatment facilities in Indiana. It provides mental health care and substance abuse treatment with a dozen locations throughout northeast Indiana. Clients include those seeking treatment for ADHD, eating disorders, and an array of addictions such as gambling and drugs and alcohol.
The Warsaw facility in Kosciusko County offers residential medical detoxification and stabilization services and outpatient treatment for adult men and women. Bowen Center corporate offices are in Warsaw, as well as a group home for chronically mentally ill clients.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Admission to the Warsaw residential unit begins with a physical examination, psychiatric evaluation, and social history. In Indiana, only 189 (62 percent) of facilities offer comprehensive mental health assessments alongside substance abuse assessments. Clients who have received a single or dual diagnosis of chemical dependency and mental health disorders usually remain on the unit until they transition to continued outpatient treatment or to a group home or another recommended program.
All levels of treatment incorporate individual and group counseling and are strength-based, trauma-informed, solution-focused, and time-efficient. An array of therapeutic modalities are employed, including the Matrix Model and Seeking Safety. The Matrix Model is used in 183 (60 percent) of Indiana treatment facilities. Moral Reconation Therapy is available for clients in the criminal justice system, hypnosis, biofeedback, and workshops for anxiety and stress management.
An employee assistance program, social skills training, grief counseling, community education sessions, and special treatment for adolescents and women are also offered.
The residential and outpatient treatment teams are comprised of psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, social workers, licensed therapists, a licensed dietitian, and chemical dependency counselors, including several staff members with masters and doctorate degrees.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The Warsaw facility offers residential pods that can accommodate different groups of clients. The facility also includes a spacious open-day room with natural lighting and a closed-off patio area.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The sole alum polled by Rehabs.com to date gave the Warsaw facility mostly positive ratings. They rated the facility four out of five stars in 10 of 15 evaluated categories, including counseling options and cleanliness. They gave three out of five stars for the center's holistic treatment offerings and exercise and leisure activities. They cited the staff as a strength and food and exercise options as weaknesses.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
The two loved ones polled by Rehabs.com to date indicated that they would recommend the facility to others. One rated the Warsaw facility maximum five-star ratings in all 15 evaluated categories, including cleanliness, affordability, and available counseling options.
Both anonymous loved ones left comments and ratings that identified the effectiveness of treatment and “the people” as program strengths. One described staff members as friendly, helpful, and caring. However, the other did note that long-term treatment and aftercare options needed improvement.

On Glassdoor, The Bowen Center’s Warsaw location has an average rating of 3.4 out of five stars from 18 reviews to date. Staff members wrote positive feedback about the training, workplace culture, and the organization’s focus on “client care.” Several reviews noted the negative aspects of rapid growth that have caused “serious challenges.”
On Indeed, the Bowen Center as a whole has an average rating of 2.7 out of five stars from 82 reviews. Some reviews indicated “office politics” and management who “Only Cares About PROFIT.”
Financial assistance and charity care are available to clients who qualify. The facility charges separate fees for services ranging from $17 to $2,000. CiteHealth and HealthGrove both indicate that Medicaid is accepted. It is one of the 184 (60.3 percent) of Indiana treatment facilities that accept Medicaid.
