Located in Knoxville, Tenn., this Bradford Health Services location is just one of nearly 30 locations operated in the Bradford Health Services' treatment network. The treatment center offers one of the state's 116 (53.5 percent) intensive outpatient programs, as well as aftercare plans to individuals who are struggling with chemical dependency. The location is also one of just 48 (22.1 percent) treatment centers in Tennessee with a specialized track for adolescents.

Bradford Health Services of Knoxville does not offer on-site detoxification services; however, the treatment network does provide no-cost intervention services and treatment consultations. Additional locations are mostly spread throughout Alabama but also parts of Florida and Arkansas, where a variety of services can be accessed.

According to the facility's website, clients undergo a multidisciplinary assessment to ensure an outpatient-based program is an appropriate level of care. Although the program’s intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment requires attending sessions multiple times a week, clients must be medically stable and able to maintain sobriety without supervision.

An abstinence-based program, Bradford Health Services’ treatment approach is founded in 12-step involvement while incorporating evidence-based methods. In addition to 12-step immersion, both the adult and adolescent IOP programs focus on relapse prevention education and group therapy sessions and may include adventure-based programs and educational training.

Group discussions are small and tailored to address age-relevant issues. For example, adult programs may discuss issues of parenting, while the adolescent program may address the neurobiological consequences of addiction during teenage years. During treatment, family members are highly encouraged to attend Al-Anon meetings to familiarize themselves with the disease of addiction.

To assist in long-term stability, Bradford Health Services of Knoxville also offers continuing care services for its adult and adolescent clients upon discharge. The facility provides ongoing monitoring, referrals to 12-step opportunities within the community, and encourages clients to become involved in Bradford Health Services’ alumni association.

The center's website notes this Bradford Health Services is accredited by the Joint Commission. The treatment center's staff includes a multidisciplinary team of master’s-level substance abuse counselors, counselors experienced with adolescents, intervention specialists, case managers, and program coordinators. The two survey respondents to date provided a two-star and a three-star rating out of five for the staff's level of experience and training.

The sole alum surveyed by at the time of this writing provided a mostly positive review. The anonymous alum gave five out of five stars when asked if they would recommend this Bradford Health Services location, and they gave five stars for treatment effectiveness. The alum also provided four-star ratings for family participation and holistic offerings. "Nice staff. The Wait was a weakness. Great help," they wrote.

Reviews on secondary sites were also positive to date. Of the 10 individuals who provided Google reviews at the time of this writing, seven left five out of five stars, two gave four stars, and just one gave one star, for an average rating of 4.4 stars overall.[1] Most of these individuals praised the staff.

"I love that there's a place like this with such caring professionals that are so willing to help people like us," an alum wrote in a representative review. "Knowing the problems we have and the attention we need. They're there every step of the way to help you through."

The 126 individuals who left reviews on Bradford Health Services Facebook page, which they may manage, provided an average 4.2 out of five stars.[2] However, it's important to note the reviews are for all of Bradford Health Services locations, not just the Knoxville location.

The single loved one polled by at the time of this writing provided a mostly negative review. They only gave one out of five stars when asked if they would recommend Bradford Health Services, one star for the center's affordability, and just two stars for treatment effectiveness. However, like the alum, they praised the center's staff. "Staff is friendly," they wrote. But, they also noted that the rehabs were a "joke," adding, "They give people the run around."

WHAT STAFF SAY has yet to receive reviews from staff members. Yet, the 63 staffers who left reviews for Bradford Health Services on Glassdoor provided an average rating of 2.9 out of five stars.[3] The reviews were for the entire Bradford Health Services network.

Some of the former staff members and staffers noted a heavy workload, bad retain rate, and low pay. "Management played favorites, hours were crazy, it was very unsafe when I worked there. I remember they were highly about the numbers and getting more patients in daily to meet their revenue," a former Knoxville employee wrote in a representative review.

According to the facility’s website, Bradford Health Services accepts most major insurance providers for treatment and is one of 165 (76 percent) in the state that offers private pay options for the under or uninsured.
