TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon admission, all clients receive a comprehensive assessment to help guide the development of their individualized treatment plan. Treatment for adults is based on 12-step principles and includes individual and group therapy sessions in a structured environment. According Bradford Health's website, treatments for adults included cognitive-behavioral, trauma-informed, and experiential therapies, as well as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) to address trauma.

Like adult care, programming for adolescents draws upon the 12 Steps. Additionally, therapy is conducted in small groups, one-on-one sessions, and within adventure-based settings. Family is a core component of Bradford’s approach, and loved ones are encouraged to participate in the recovery process in both the adolescent and adult programs.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to Bradford Health Services’ website, the center’s treatment team includes physicians and qualified addiction counselors. Certified educators are also available to assist adolescent clients with school work. All of Bradford Health Services' facilities are accredited by the Joint Commission, a certification held by 18.6 percent of rehabs in Alabama.

It was horrible. The girls would sneak out. It was honestly like jail but you had a smoke break. Staff was mean non helpful and acted like they didn’t care. Nurses were snobby. I didn’t have a good experience but it’s all my insurance would pay for the only plus was the food.

It was not a good experience. Where do I begin? Well there is no accountability. If you chose not to go to the so called groups and sit outside and smoke all day then that was okay. An accountability sheet was given to the patient so they could sign off in case the insurance questioned the services received. Many patients never attended meetings. Plane and simple they are about the money. There is no in depth therapy. It is a cookie cutter program. They tell you about the 12 steps but nothing in depth. The CAs are for the most part useless. There were 2 good ones that did help. The medical staff was horrible. I had a swollen foot. They gave me ice They knew I had heart issues and never put two and two together. I had circulation issues. I was finally taken to Madison hospital where I was also diagnosed with pmemonia . The facility was a dump. I understand no TV in the rooms but at least give patients a decent mattress to sleep on. Little to no exercise. Most people were in and out in two weeks or so. I can't blame my relapse on Bradford. When I did go back to treatment I was hesitant. I found a great facility in Tampa. Bradford is the Domino's of rehabs.

Treatment effectiveness: Bradford claims that their program is based on the 12-step method, but you don\'t get much past the second step during the group meetings. Counselor Assistants who conduct the group sessions vary widely in skill and ability to maintain control of the session. Crosstalk is a problem in these sessions. The small group and one-on-one sessions with my counselor were the best therapy in the program. That really worked well and it is the only reason I give it four stars. Accommodations and amenities:This is not a pleasant facility to live in. I was given one thin little pillow, one thin little blanket (which I kept as a trophy) and one sheet for my twin bed. No television in the room, which I shared with a roommate. You could have a radio, but you had to bring it. No exercise facilities at all. Cellphones, tablets and laptops are not allowed. You make phone calls from a payphone. Wakeup is 0500 hours. Rollcall is 0600 hours. Lights out is 2200 hours and almost every hour between rollcall and lights out is occupied with something. The only thing pleasant about Madison was the food, especially breakfast. The free fountain drinks were nice too, but none of the offerings had caffeine and the coffee was drinkable at best. God, keep me sober so I don\'t have to do that again.

Positives included the food, outdoors time, some of the counselors' helpfulness. However, some nurses were extremely rude, some counselors played favorites which was really annoying if you weren't one of them...If I had to go back to rehab I would want to go back to Bradford, regardless of the weaknesses.

Great clinical support staff. Majority of which are in recovery so they fully understand what the patients are going through. We are always striving to better ourselves and our facility by taking extra training courses....try to keep in contact with our former patients to see how they are doing. Patient care is our top priority.
