Located in Salem, Ore., Bridgeway provides treatment for individuals struggling with substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and gambling addictions. Both residential and outpatient programming is available for adults, and the facility is one of Oregon's only 76 (34.5 percent) that offers specialized, outpatient tracks for adolescents and DUI offenders. In addition, this is one of the 24 (10.8 percent) facilities in the state where medically monitored detoxification is available on-site. All programs are available in Spanish.

To determine the most appropriate level of care, clients may participate in an initial behavioral health assessment. Those who require medical attention may begin their treatment with detoxification, a process that lasts between five and seven days. Once stabilized, adults who need a high level of structure may be referred to residential treatment. Typically lasting 45 to 60 days, the residential program consists of a 35-hour weekly schedule that incorporates individual, group, and family therapy, 12-step meetings, self-developmental education, and recreational activities. Bridgeway also integrates holistic modalities, including yoga, guided meditation, gardening, and artistic expression. Ongoing medication management is available to individuals struggling with co-occurring mental health difficulties.

Residential treatment for problem gambling is similar in design, though all counselors are certified by the State of Oregon to treat gambling addiction. In addition to therapy and off-site support meetings, the program also includes financial planning assistance and gambling education.

All of Bridgeway’s outpatient programming is tailored to the individual client’s needs. Most clients receive five hours of treatment each week and remain in the program for up to 90 days. Once a client completes the program, Bridgeway connects them with community resources to help support their continued recovery.

Bridgeway’s multidisciplinary staff includes an on-site medical director, program supervisors, certified drug and alcohol addiction counselors, and certified problem gambling counselors. Staff at this facility received positive feedback from the five individuals surveyed by at the time of this writing.

Bridgeway offers two residences: Santiam House for adults receiving treatment for gambling addiction, and a main residence for those enrolled in the substance abuse treatment program. Images from the facility’s website depict home-like residences with private or shared bedrooms, well-furnished communal areas, a full kitchen, and private bathrooms. Meals are prepared on-site by an executive chef. Regular visitation is allowed, and Bridgeway hosts a Sunday brunch for residents and visitors each week. This facility's accommodations received favorable feedback from five survey respondents to date.

Very secure and seems to have good employees. Strict policies. Understaffed and under funded. Facility is not well maintained. They were able to help my loved one, and through counseling and other programs my loved one has not relapsed in 3 years of sobriety.

I do not know of anyone who has went to this facility and made a recovery. I think most of them are on State provided insurance so the facility is just after easy money. That is my opinion. I have heard bad things about this place & think it should be investigated.

The workers their are amazing. My in patient counselor was really good. As all the counselor were. You feel like the actually care about you !!Think there might have been a little too much freedom. I did fine but others took advantage of it and bright stuff into treatment or left to get high. It kinda made it hard on people that are trying. This treatment center was not like the ones you see on tv. .it's not all fancy. But they do good work. If you are ready to quit. It's not about all the luxury . It's about treatment. And they are good.

Well structured 12 steps, easy to follow. Too many people that were forced to be there (court ordered) made the place feel different, hollow.) Maybe sort threw people more, with groups of people that want to be there with the people who are court ordered. It made it hard to concentrate.

Most of the employees are recovering addicts themselves and that made it easier for me to be honest about my addiction and the treatment I needed.

Bridgeway was good to help get his license back and provided him with some tools he did not have before. But my friend still struggles with alcohol. He has the tools. Needs some more. Having found he us on the Aspergers spectrum has helped explain some issues for him.
