ABOUT CALVARY RESIDENTIAL DISCIPLESHIP - SEVEN OAKS TRAINING CENTER

Calvary Residential Discipleship (CRD) operates faith-based residential programs for individuals struggling with life-controlling behavioral concerns, such as drug and/or alcohol addiction. Located in Orrington, right outside of Bangor, Maine, Seven Oaks Training Center is a residential program for men. CRD offers a similar program for women called Blessed Hope.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The framework for the CRD men’s program, according to its website, is a “process by which desperate men come to accept the Biblical message of becoming a ‘new creation’ through faith in Jesus Christ.” The goal is to develop into “an honest, trustworthy man of God empowered by The Spirit of God.” The program lasts 12 months and is divided into three phases.

Phase One, which lasts eight weeks, entails highly-structured programming and includes a Bible-based course study and daily work routine of manual labor on the grounds. During the 16-week Phase Two, residents take on more responsibilities and develop leadership roles while continuing in Bible study, devotions, and prayer. The first six months are restrictive and, as such, participants cannot have or use cell phones, computers, iPods, and other electronic devices.

Before proceeding to the third and final step, residents complete and submit a transition plan, which entails activities such as making contacts for employment and housing, and obtaining a driver's license. During the 24-week transition phase, participants secure and maintain gainful employment and acclimate back into the community. When they accomplish their transition plan, participants receive a “certificate of completion” from CRD.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

CRD's staff consists of several pastors and program directors. The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com to date gave a rating of three out of five stars for the staff's level of experience and training.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The facility's website offers few details about living arrangements and related amenities at the time of this writing, however, it states that tobacco products or nicotine patches are not allowed. Participants are expected to do physical work during the day while in the early phases of the program and attend regular church services, described as “paramount to this renewal process.”

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Rehabs.com has yet to receive any alumni feedback to date. On the facility's unofficial Facebook site, one person gave the Seven Oaks Training Center a perfect five-star rating, though did not elaborate on their experience. [1]

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The sole loved one polled by Rehabs.com at the time of this writing offered a moderately positive opinion of the facility. While offering four out of five stars for the facility's affordability, its connectivity/visitor policies, and the amount of family participation, the offered two stars for the facility's counseling options and the likelihood they'd recommend to others. Although they felt the facility needed "more education on PTSD," they added, "It was an overall positive experience."

No- nonsense stand on behavior but needs more education on PTSD. A family member attended this facilities treatment. It was an overall positive experience.
