Founded in 1975, the Cambodian Association of America is a private, non-profit facility, which make up about 53 percent of California treatment centers. It provides culturally appropriate outreach services to low-income Cambodian families in Long Beach, Calif. Since 2000, the organization has also aided non-Asian communities in the area, such as African Americans, Caucasians, and Hispanics. The association runs numerous community programs and is one of the 921 (70.3 percent) of California treatment centers that provide outpatient treatment for substance use disorder.


According to the facility's website, in order to receive substance use disorder treatment services, individuals must have an open case with the Department of Children and Family Services and/or receive public assistance from the California Work Opportunities and Responsibility to Kids program (CalWorks).

The program provides individual counseling, group therapy, and outreach education, as well as case management services. If needed, the Association can help provide higher levels of care, such as residential treatment, via its partnership with Behavioral Health Services, Inc..

The Association also runs a prevention program for children and adolescents ages 12 to 18, which makes it part of the 21 percent of California treatment centers that treat adolescents.

In addition to offering recreational activities and outreach education, the program can also provide support services for domestic violence, parenting problems, and marriage/family issues.

On Facebook, where the association can manage its page, the organization earned an average rating of 4.3 out of five stars based on 11 reviews.[3] "Need help on anything, that's the place I would recommend we should go," Rattana wrote in a representative review.


According to the facility's website, the outpatient substance use disorder program is funded by Los Angeles County. HealthGrove reports that the association accepts Access to Recovery Vouchers and state insurance other than Medicaid, and that sliding scale fees are available to clients who qualify.
