In New York, Cazenovia facilities are among the state's 596 (70.8 percent) private, nonprofit treatment centers. The organization provides residential services at a variety of locations in New York for individuals who are struggling with problematic substance use and/or mental health disorders, as well as those at risk of homelessness. In addition to treatment services, the agency provides housing with varying levels of support, from intensive residential units to transitional housing.

Located on a tree-lined residential street three miles north of central Buffalo, Casa di Vita is a community residence program for adult women who are struggling with substance use disorder and either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, according to HUD standards.

The facility is one of the 542 (64.4 percent) centers in the state with a female-centered focus. Under Cazenovia's definition, a "community residence program" offers highly structured care while allowing residents to hold a job. Treatment is slightly more intensive than a traditional transitional living facility.

Other Cazenovia facilities include Unity House in Buffalo and Turning Point House in Eden, south of Buffalo, both of which provide residential treatment for men.

Like all of Cazenovia's programs, Casa di Vita provides trauma-informed care. At this facility, that care is provided in the context of both individual and group therapy. Self-help meetings are held on-site, but Cazenovia does not presently indicate whether these follow the 12-step program or another recovery program; transportation is provided to off-site self-help meetings.

In addition to providing therapy, case management, and self-help meetings, Casa di Vita aims to prepare its residents for life after treatment, via training in daily living skills, vocational services, and referrals to employment readiness programs, an offering at just 440 (52.3 percent) centers in the state.

Residents are also encouraged to establish and maintain healthy relationships with their families and friends. Casa di Vita can also accommodate women struggling with co-occurring mental health disorders; however, treatment for these disorders consists of referrals to off-site providers.

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff.

Residents sleep in semi-private rooms in a free-standing, two-story brick home. During their stay, women are provided with meals; there's also a fitness room on-site and a common room with a TV. The center is on a major bus route for those who require public transport to get to work.

With a 1.8 out of five-star average rating based on four reviews left on CiteHealth at the time of this writing, the reviewers repeatedly cited uncaring and unhelpful treatment from staff.[1]

"This facility is terrible. I cant believe this is a rehab facility! The staff dismisses residents problems," one anonymous reviewer wrote. Another alum added: "Its disgrace to have people in position destroying resident spiritually, mentally when they are supposed to be in position to help the resident achieved their goals to be a productive member of society."

However, Cazenovia Recovery Systems, as a whole, had a 4.1 out of five-star average rating based on 28 reviews on Facebook, which the staff may manage.[2] Several of the comments left on the Facebook page were from staff members: "This is a great company to work for. They help many people and keep there staff trained to be able to deal with a variety of people," C.S.D. wrote in a representative review. Two further comments described Cazenovia's services as life-changing.

Cazenovia accepts health insurance, private pay, Supplemental Security Income, Social Security Disability, and Department of Social Services payments. Reviews left on CiteHealth at the time of this writing indicated that the Casa di Vita also accepted Medicaid.
