Areas of Specialization
Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.
This term describes one-on-one therapy, in which a patient and trained counselor, social worker, psychologist or psychiatrist meets privately with a patient to discuss challenges related to lifestyle, work, family and romantic relationships that may have contributed to the development of an addiction.

ABOUT CAZENOVIA RECOVERY SYSTEMS - CASA DI VITA
Cazenovia is a private nonprofit that provides residential services at a variety of locations in New York State for individuals who are struggling with problematic substance use and/or mental health disorders, and are at risk of homelessness. In addition to treatment services, the agency provides housing with varying levels of support, from intensive residential units to transitional housing.
Located on a tree-lined residential street three miles north of central Buffalo, Casa di Vita is a community residence program for women aged 18+ who are struggling with substance use disorder and either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, according to HUD standards. Under Cazenovia's definition, a "community residence program" offers highly structured care while allowing residents to hold a job. Treatment is slightly more intensive than a traditional transitional living facility.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Like all of Cazenovia's programs, Casa di Vita provides trauma-informed care. At this facility, that care is provided in the context of both individual and group therapy. Self-help meetings are held on-site, but Cazenovia does not at present indicate whether these follow the 12-step program or another recovery program; transportation is also provided to off-site self-help meetings. In addition to providing therapy, case management, and self-help meetings, Casa di Vita aims to prepare its residents for life after treatment, via training in daily living skills, vocational services, and referrals to employment readiness programs. Residents are also encouraged to establish and maintain healthy relationships with their families and friends. Casa di Vita can accommodate women struggling with co-occurring mental health disorders, however, treatment for these disorders consists of referrals to off-site providers.
There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Residents sleep in semi-private rooms in a free-standing, two-story redbrick home with a front lawn. During their stay, women are provided with meals; there's also a fitness room on-site and a common room with a TV.
