Cazenovia Recovery Services (CRS) has been offering treatment to individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders as well as homelessness and poverty since 1980. The private nonprofit organization has many residencies around New York, including one named Sundram Manor, but Cazenovia Manor in Buffalo is for adult men either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Group and individual therapies are offered in which clients learn daily living skills. Cazenovia Manor’s website states that the program is sensitive to those who have experienced trauma. Case management, vocational services, and employment services give clients a sense of purpose. Clients also receive aid reintegrating back into the community.

Other services include recovery-oriented programming, daily living skills training, individualized service planning, and on-site self-help meetings. On-site substance abuse counseling and linkage to off-site mental health counseling are also available.

Cazenovia Manor's website does not currently list information about its staff, but one alum submitted a survey to and gave fours out of five stars for the staff’s level of training and experience.

Cazenovia Manor hosts 24 beds and features semi-private rooms in a community-style environment, which are accessible by people with disabilities. Meals are served on-site, and clients may utilize the recreation and activity area.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY has received a single response from one alum of Cazenovia Manor to date. The anonymous alum offered ratings of three and four out of five stars for Cazenovia Manor's holistic treatment, connectivity/visitor policy, counseling options, and accommodations. They wrote that the “old building is hard to maintain.”

Elsewhere online there are more reports of positive experiences of CRS as a whole. Twenty-nine Facebook reviewers to date rated the organization an average 4.2 out five stars, with four praising CRS's staff in feedback. Jeff gave the highest possible rating and described the facility as a place that’s “Helping people reclaim their life one day at a time.”[1]

Six additional reviewers on Google rated the facility a perfect five stars. Kyle wrote: “The staff are great understanding kind and caring and it is a great place to find yourself and Recovery if you want to live a sober and happy life.”[2]

Though CRS's website mentions the offer of sliding scale fees, further details about pricing and coverage are limited.
